The Wests Tigers have set their sights on bringing Mark O'Neill to the club to be the head of football. It would be a good signing for Wests as they need someone in that role badly, O'Neill is decent at it. Though for us, the change might be good, just wonder if BA had a say on this or O'Neill simply just thought it is time to move on. A new voice in recruitment however could be nice, plus i wonder if it could help us get deals done with Wests in the future as we know O'Neill.
But the biggest question of all is, who will take his spot. Hopefully they do not hire from within, it would be great to make a big splash for a known name, but again they have to want to work with BA and vice versa.
The relationship between BA and O'Neill was always mentioned to be not that great, i think they were fine together but always seemed to be a "we will make it work" approach. After 5 years, it might be a good time to move onto someone else and reboot that way.

BA to move to that role with a new coach coming in
That is a massive call, but i remember a few years back BA was always going to move into a role at the club other than coach. Carr was brought in to be his successor but BA didn't want to give up his post. Had we won the GF last year i believe he would step aside.
I believe if he was to go into GM role it would be in 2025 and we bring in a successor this year.
I think that'll happen.
He is essentially doing that now.
He is a leader but he is not a strategist.
I'll be so happy about this
Thank dog
Best news I've heard if true. Clueless f@&)
BA as head of football ?? Yeah don't know about that.
We probably couldn't get a more passionate man at the helm but he has some pretty set ways and I doubt that he would be able to keep his fingers out of the coaching role. He would be a little bit like Gus Gould and always in there.
But for all his home spun ways, I doubt BA would have the corporate experience to do the role.
I'd rather have him in pathways and have a heavy hitter at the helm.
I think he could do the role with someone along side him to help with Salary Cap books.
I don't think he has the lateral thinking capacity, I would love him to get a job but he has demonstrated on many occasions that stubborness is his downfall, stubborn people find it difficult to think outside the square.
The key to the success BA has had is his passion for this club, I am not sure that passion is so important in an executive structure, can actually let you down. You don't want an accountant doing your books with passion?
The counter to this is the title of GM football, what does it mean in a game where coaches are the head kickers, unlike say managers in a soccer sense, but hey they do the head kicking as well..... just tell me who the strategic people are we can call the other's anything you like.
Autonomy in leadership is so tricky, I would always try to be a benevolent dictator, get everyones opinion and then do it my way.....i.e what is seen to being done as to what is actually done.
My suspicion is that Bennett and Bellamey are so different but also so close that role models can exist but a thing called culture and inspiration are the immeasurable requirements in trying to find the right people.
Maybe why many of the new coaches have started as assistants and seen to be the next big thing and then fail.
Maybe you need a superior manager to use a Barrett, Siebold or whoever in making it work strategically.
He should have nothing to do with the football club whatsoever, he has single handedly wasted a decade of opportunities
I believe Rouse Hill Rhinos looking for a president and canteen manager
