Superstar recruit Kieran Foran hopes Tim Mannah remains as Parramatta captain.
Foran has been linked to the role after his NRL off season move from Manly, but the Kiwi international believes Mannah deserves to hold onto the job.
“I think Timmy has done a great job over the years, he has been a tremendous leader and I have got no doubt Timmy will take the reins again,” Foran said.
“My role at the moment is just to fit in here, I want to get to know everyone and go from there.”
However, given the increasing prevalence of co-captains in the NRL, Eels coach Brad Arthur could have a bet each way and install both Mannah and Foran as skippers for next season.
Mannah took over the sole captaincy last season after Jarryd Hayne’s move to the NFL and said he would like to stay as a leader of the club.
“It is a huge honour but I don’t think that is a decision for me, that is Brad’s call,” Mannah said.
“It is definitely a role I have grown to enjoy but I will never let my personal preference interfere with the team.
“The captaincy is something I am still learning about but I am not going to add any more pressure on the coaches.
“They have enough on their plate, they don’t need any more voices chiming in saying what they should and shouldn’t do.”
Mannah said the addition of Foran as a senior figure at the club was a huge boost.
“The more leaders you have in the team the better and I think the team is starting to grow and grow,” he said.
“The culture here at the moment is really healthy and it is definitely moving in the right direction.”

We hear Timmy talking things up every preseason but this line sounds pretty good...
"The culture here at the moment is really healthy and it is definitely moving in the right direction.”
I think BA will probably go with co-captains, as Mannah's position (prop) has him on the bench for extended periods.
Mannah should be club captain and Norman, who is very vocal with the players, should be team captain and address the refs on the field.
Mannah should stay Eels captain
No he shouldn't - GREAT GUY but doesn't play enough minutes / capt should be on the park for MOST of the game - and he is an introvert - has the wrong personality to inspire and lead into battle
Neither should Norman - his decison making is 2nd class - his ball running and ad lib plays are top shelf - but structured play and kicking are below par - too mistakes and therefore NOT inspirational enough to be the leader
Here you go Keiren
The Keys to Cumberland are ALL YOURS
ps - notice how watmough isn't even in the conversation hahahha - what a difference 12 months makes
you need a player that play 80 mins to be a captain ,mannah plays about 50 to 60 mins , end of the story, with foren he is expected to play 60 mins and be the leader, with mannah and hayne as captain it was hopeless .. i think watmough a leader and foren ,they can learn the younger guys lots at the eels.
mannah should be just a hard running forward , as he can tackle ok , to me hes not a captain.
Nick Mannah is imo the worse captain in eels history and easily the poorest and most ineffective capating in the comp.
He has shown over the years he has zero ability to lift his team, he is simply not shrewd or persuasive enough to talk with the refs, he simply doesnt have the smarts To be a captain, hes proven it over and over again.
