Making the 8

So if we beat the Tigers this weekend, which I really think we should and we can, we go Into the bye on 16 points then grabbing the 2 points for the bye so that leaves us of course on 18, In past seasons 28 points has been the cut off point so hoping that is the cut off point again this year we would only need another 10 points out of the remaining games. How do u like our chances people??.

  • I did some ladder predictor, the only games we can afford to lose are against the Cows and the Rorters we have to beat the dogs in 2 weeks time, if we win all the other games we should get in if a few results go our way... Our For and against could be an issue

    • WE CAN LOSE 3 GAMES

I've done the ladder predictor about 50 times in the last fortnight.

  • To make the eight we're going to have to bank on winning the last two games vs Sharks and Raiders I reckon.

Then you need to three wins from Bulldogs, Cowboys, Titans, Panthers, Roosters, Sea Eagles. That's obviously possible but at the same time not easy.

I think some chance that 26 may be enough this year, because I think from seven downwards is going to be very heavily compressed. You'll need a really good for and against though which probably screws us anyway, so we're going to have to aim for 28.

    • Titans, Panthers and Manly are the three most likely. Titans have a bad record at home (and a fairly weak team), Panthers game is in NT,  which will be like a home game. I believe we have around 2,000 members up there, who should show up for the Eels. They have the cheap ticketed membership option. Panthers also have injuries such as Idris, Moylan etc. Our team should be fired up for the Manly game, after all the sh*t that's been stirred up between the two clubs recently. Manly are also struggling this year.

But as you say - Sharks and Raiders are MUST WIN games. The Eels can be quite unpredictable, which is what makes it all so exciting and stressful!

I'm a firm believer that will make the 8. Players like Wicks, Manu and Peats (or any of our backup Hookers) bring the much needed determination.

28 points might be enough for us to scrape in, though it'll come down to 'for and against' with points scored. We're stuffed if other teams are also on 28.

    • i honestly think we can win near.ly every game except the cowboys.dont toss this team away there bloody good, starting to find there feet, can feel something brewing

    • I still think 30 points is needed and not having to rely on other teams + F/A.

If we have improved on last season, we must win against the Sharks and Raiders.

  • Well this year our for and against is -50 this time last year it was what -100 maybe more?. So I think we can peg that just gotta keep winning. A big win this weekend would be nice!.
  • Making the 8 is one thing. Being a force in the finals is another thing. I'm afraid it's " next year " again people. :(
