I know an NRL 360 Story. However a committee of former players are looking to form a group to make constiutional change in the club.
These include Brett Kenny, Ray Price, Eric Grother Snr and Jr, Ben Smith and David Liddard.
I am all for former players getting involved in a motivational sense with the playing group ...But looking for board seats and working on club constitution etc...what value is in this ?
Have we not been down this road with Roy/Steve Sharp et al and what value can this group bring to the Parra club in this sense. I am not discounting them as legends of our great club ....but have they not had their time decades ago ?
I dont mean to be rude to legends but we really need people who can bring commercial connections to the team help with 3rd party agreements and make it good for players post career with connections in the big end of town like players get from Nick Politis which help retaining and getting players to go to the roosters.
Anyway would love to hear others thoughts

This is the spaghetti dope trying to gain control again and is hiding it behind the legends to try fool the dumb members and dumb fans
James hooper story
In a statement calling for signatures pushing for the Extraordinary General Meeting, committee member Michael Barrilaro said: “The current administration has consistently fallen short of expectations. We have witnessed a decline in on-field performance, a toxic culture, and a complete disconnect between the club and its supporters. It is clear that a fresh approach is desperately needed.
“The committee is dedicated to restoring the Parramatta Eels to what they believe is their rightful place at the pinnacle of rugby league. They have a clear vision for the Club’s future, backed by a proven track record of success. The ‘Make Parra Matter Again’ plan focuses on three key pillars.
“The first step towards rebuilding the Parramatta Eels is to wrest control from the current governing body. The Club’s constitution currently restricts the power of voting members to hold the board accountable for football performance. This is unacceptable.
“We will fight to change this, giving fans a genuine voice in the direction of the Club. By replacing four directors on the Parramatta Leagues Club board, we can establish a majority and begin the process of overhauling the entire organisation.
“The Parramatta Eels have a rich history filled with legendary players and unforgettable moments. However, in recent years, there has been a growing disconnect between the Club and its former greats.
“We believe that reconnecting with our past is essential to building a successful future. Our committee’s mission is to re-engage with former players, inviting them back into the fold, and leveraging their expertise to mentor and inspire the next generation of Eels.
“By bringing together the best of the past with the promise of the future, we can create a unified Club that is capable of achieving greatness.”
Hooper lol. This has to be a beat up.
That conehead loves an eels story..it's actually a non story
The donkeys of the west missed a golden opportunity to get people like John Qualye involved at boardroom level
Good blog, Parra born. Can't disagree with you.
Mike, Michael Royilaro "Barrilaro" sounds suspiciously Italian.
PS: Nothing against Italians. My first love was Italian. Love Italy especially Venice, Rome and Florence. Would live there if things fell my way.
any relation to John Barrilaro? nice plan HOE.
Like you?
Me too.
The thing is mate the only people who can get involved are Leagues Club members. That's it. There's no amazing new people on the sidelines waiting to get involved. It's just us.
And unfortunately these usual suspects here have never changed. They continue to scheme again and again to somehow gain control of the club. They use the same 'legends' to attempt to fool the masses. The thing is, no one is falling for it any more and thankfully with voting now online they can't corner an election by getting 200 family and friends to vote.
We need to tweak the constitution further, not burn the joint to the ground and start again. And definitely not let these fools anywhere near the halls of power.
I think a lot of the former players especially from thise 80's teams were made life members. So nearly all of them can be invovled.
On another note. Its not the constitution, nor the new setup of electing the Leagues club board that is inherently wrong. It is the people that have been selected since the first board was installed by Liqour and Gaming, and subsequent persons elected since, may or may not specialize in the football side of things.
A couple of board changes would be a huge help to us. Not a whole constitutional change. Lets never ever forget that the board before liqour and gaming had stepped in were losing 10's of millions of dollars every si gle year. The leagues club and by extention football club were about to be bankrupt, if the Liqour and Gaming hadnt of stepped in.
Take it a small step further our club is now very very profitable and the football club get far better resourced.
Our problem is a lack of real football understanding, the way player contracts work, the right people finding our next recruits, football fan engagement, where our home games should be and when etc. We dont need all the board members to be complete footy knowledgable like a Gus Gould, because the bankers also have an important role in making the organistaion profitable for decades to come.
We do need to add to our board and assist the Bankers though.
Nothing like having the genius of Eric Grothe Senior on the board who was found to be a not fit and proper person by OLGR last time he was there.
Or Ray Price who himself has admitted to having neurological findings consistent with degenerative neurological conditions.
