Nofa looking to be terminated from Wests - https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/news-2024-david-nofoaluma-axing-wests-tigers-payout-benji-marshall-board-meeting/3de80eec-970f-495e-a1ce-7b707b2956c0
Considering this, and our lack of depth in our backs. Do you think it would be wise for us to make a play for Nofa? We could potentially get him on the cheap too.
I for one would like it. 1-2 year deal max. I think he'd slot straight in to our starting 1-17 pending fitness.

A big no for me. I think he is one of the worst defensive wingers in the nrl and has a massive elitist attitude problem. Only real value is his start to sets but past his used by date
It definitely wouldn't be a long term signing mate. I think we can use him for this season massively. We don't have much.
NO. We have better and younger players so he's not adding anything we don't have
Though Axel, who is better than him at this stage that we have? Would you consider Lumelume or Dunster better?
LB, I just don't see the added value he would bring to the team at the expense of taking a spot in the 30 + cap space, We should be holding out for someone with a higher ceiling.
Fair, someone could come available.
Which of our younger players are better than him NOW? None. In a few years, sure. But we need depth now for 2024. Dunster is trash. Lumelume is trash. Russel I rate, but he is still young, injury prone and not currently better than Nofa.
Whenever you purchase a player, to determine if it is a good signing or not you need to ask are they better than what we currently have in the same position or better than who they are replacing. Let's go through all the players that could play on the wing in 2024
Sivo
Russell
Dunster
Lumelume
Cini
Martin
Komolafe
Nofoaluma is better than all bar Sivo, maybe Russell. It depends as i mentioned before as to what do we want in a Winger, a position in which BA and the club are after. Do we want speed or a metre eater? If you want a metre eater out the back Nofoaluma is perfect for that, he can get through 150-200 metres most weeks. If you want speed? Then no he is not a good signing in that sense. But overall if you just want a winger better than what you have, then for a one-two year cheap deal around $200-300K a year i think it can work.
Wests did offer him apparently (take it for a grain of salt) and we said no. He is 31 at years end, for a Winger that is not too bad and with his injury history not being too bad you could get 2-3 years out of him before say Richard Penisini is ready or give him a year and have Russell or Martin ready in 2025.
Attitude seems the issue, or is it as much as he is just trying to get out of there. Though if he wanted gone he could have asked for a release and it be granted. BA would not tolerate any of his shit, as Benji hasn't. So a one year cheap deal could humble him and see how it goes.
If he signed tomorrow i would be lying if i said i would have preferred someone better. However, i would also be lying if i said i hated or disliked the signing.
Last thing, we have a habit of going back to the well of players BA chased in the past and getting. We chased Nofoaluma hard twice in the past, he declined us twice and we got Fergo and Sivo. O'Neill was not around then but BA would definately be interested.
so was fergo
Nope - past it
