Major sponsor's and Partners.

The Eels have landed TAB as a major sponsor and have teamed up with the Sydney thunder as a ticketing and membership partner. I am also a Thunder fan so this is awsome news for me and hopefully many more eels fans.

Shout out  to the Board for this good work.

Keeps it up

  • EP, The TAB are not a major sponsor they are listed as a partner.....effectively doing things for mutual benefit.

    • Thanks for pointing out the tab,s level of sponsorship I feel so much smarter now cheers.

    • As I said pops well done to the board. Gotta give credit where it due or you  are just a hater like many on here.

      • I'm not a hater EP, just because you get your facts wrong or don't understand that you don't undertsand doesn't make you a hater......IT WAS NOT A MAJOR SPONSORSHIP just understand that, then go to Bunnings!

Parra has a web page that lists out partners and sponsors EP.

PS 2, the board actually have surprised me that they are prepared to get into bed with a gambling joint!

        • Doesn't matter what the club did you would still winge winge f--- ing winge.

You are one of the haters.

          • Ha Ha, just went to your home page to see whom I'm dealing with.......hmmm!

There is only 3 things on there and two of them is you "hate Manly" and you "hate Bulldogs".

Guess what EP, I don't hate anyone!

  • I hate gambling joints being involved with the NRL in general. Gamblings ruined far more families than smoking ever did. Not to mention the underlying issue of match fixing and crime syndicates . You're obviously never going to stop the gambling , but if smoking can't be directly involved then it's a pretty good argument they'd have if the asked why the gambling and booze can be advertised partners.

Smoking. Tobacco smoking is one of the largest preventable causes of death and disease in Australia. Smoking is estimated to kill almost 20,500 Australians a year

Australians gamble more than any other nation in the world, and gambling addiction rates continue to soar with over 300,000Australians currently addicted to gambling — with countless more on the verge.

so you could argue the big difference between dying from smoking and being addicted to gambling,  but if you drill down into the suicides and broken homes and the flow on effect , gambling is a huge issue. But other than the health aspect , not too many families have had major issues because someone's addicted to a durry.

on par up to far superior levels of suicide vs smoking deaths.

Quantitative evidence suggests that suicidality is high among those who gamble at harmful levels. In clinical populations and in treatment services for problem gambling, between 22 and 81 percent of individuals have been found to have suicidal ideations, while between 7 and 30 percent of individuals have had suicide attempts (916). In other reporting, approximately 40 percent of help-seekers have been identified as presenting a risk of suicide

Don't get me wrong , having a punt is your right and like any vice can be a positive enjoyable hobby . Like booze and a dart, or even rec drugs. But I don't think it belongs being advertised in sport if smoking ain't.  Same probably for booze to be fair. And I have a vested interest in booze.

    • Oh... and I forget my biggest grievance here, you're allowing direct relationships and financial transactions between club officials and heads of gambling companies.  Call me a tin foil  hat wearer , but fuck me if that's not opening the door for corruption than what is. Is it far fetched to assume that these same gambling company honchos wouldn't be wining and dining with people that would know in-house information like star players carrying an injury or players being scratched at the last minute ? Phuleese ,  we've had our directors  investigated and found to be untrustworthy ( at best ) , with club funds for their own self intrest , you going to tell me every clubs big end of town are that squeaky clean they wouldn't entertain the idea of leaking information to their new best mate the betting agency for kickbacks to themselves or even the club come next negotiation ?  As if.

      • Agree with everything you are saying wiz

I don't think betting companies should be allowed to link up with clubs either - such a conflict of interest

      • Agree with everything there Wiz. I hated our agreement with Unibet which actually cost us the sponsorship of UNE.

People can have a bet, but I don't think sportsbetting should be a sponsor of sport.

In America it has led to match-fixing.

It damages families, and it harms children's development and their understanding of what is "normal" when it comes to sport and how people interact with it.
