Mahoney must be completely dropped out of our 17 if the Eels want any chance of saving our season.

It's become very obvious that the blueprint into beating the Eels is to run traffic at our 9, and win the ruck in the following hit ups as once the defensive line is breached, it's nearly impossible to win back momentum.

Im not blaming Mahoney's enthusiasm, he's just not strong enough for the NRL yet. He did miss the most tackles in the past couple of weeks, but the main issue is that we can't win the ruck when giant forwards continue to drag him along.

Mahoney's time will come as he gains strength and has plenty of time to come back into the fold, but at the moment he doesn't have the frame for playing 80 minutes in first grade.

Mcillwrick must be brought in, he's experienced, a seasoned campaigner and will stop the rot in the middle.

If Brad Arthur had brains Mahoney wont be named in the team against Souths.

  • rubbish!

  • Nope.

Mahoney is leading the way in line speed and contact. The issue is not his, it’s his teammates who are so lazy they are happy to sit back and watch their little No. 9 get hammered from pillar to post. They need to step up not Mahoney step down.

However Mahoney could do with a spell. He’s overworked and getting burnt out.

    • That's true mutts, his teammates have a lot to answer for, but the smart dummy halves like cam smith and cook, know how to work the opposition defense and find a one on one with our smaller men like Mahoney. It's impossible to stop.

Mahoney must go, he needs to get bigger & stronger

    • That's not entirely true, yes he should be getting better help but Mahoney never makes a dominant tackle, just about every front rower that has scored a try against the eels this season, and there has been plenty, i think only 2 games have been played without a front rower scoring aganist us, Mahoney has been the player they have ran at, i can't thnk of one where Mahoney hasn't been the first contact defender.

      • Absouloutly hkf. It's been very obvious

      • Cameron Smith rarely makes a dominant tackle unaided, help is always on hand. Besides he’s too smart to go trying putting these big blokes on their ass by himself. A major reason for his longevity.

      • Cowboys and Penrith Paulo, he is very week in this area. I would like to see mahoney start on the bench for a while to refresh him. Have a player that can start and lead the line speed.

        • How did that go against the Storm ?

      • How many dummy halves make dominant tackles HKF ?

That's not his job. His job is to lead the line speed, make solid first contact, hit and stick, slow the ball carrier down and hang on till the cavalry arrives.

He's doing exactly what he needs to do.

        • Our line speed is terrible
