Benny as we know would have better inside knowledge than most, so don't be surprised if Madge ends up being the Eels coach.
Also there's no doubt that Moses and Gutherson would be in the loop on who's left in the Eels coaching race.
Also, it would make sense to say he's out of the race earlier, as to not make it a media storm every time he was interviewed around the NSW Blues campaign.

Yes a good solid statement which will receive all the cynisism that could only emanate from this site.
There is only so much one can say but I do note that the head coaching role is a definitively valued perception and something in those words says to me the winning candidate cannot be a "rookie" it just does not fit the "rhetoric" of what he/ they are asking for.
I am going to take a punt and say they are hanging off naming anyone until Origin is over and Maguire if he wins it, may just change the minds of the people on the selection commitee.

PS I am not advocating Maguire but if they are "fair dinkum" about their values statement then the only candidates can be McDermott, Cheika and Maguire. Culturally the others offer nothing that any assistant can handle.

No, Hannay or Ryles would be the worst possible candidates for the job.
Rookies are not what this club needs especially one as bog average as Hannay is.
Madge would be 100 times better than BA and a 1000 times better than a couple of rookies.
All you have to do is look at Hannay's record to see that he would be an average coach. He was average as a reserve grade coach and he was the interim coach at the Cowboys and Sharks and neither of them offered him the head coaches role. I wonder why.
