I am a QLD fan so maybe tad bias, but seemed to me the directive from NSW coaching staff was to take Reece Walsh out of the game by any means necessary. He had maybe 3-4 touches and got hit late or with a flop every time. I think if NSW focused on just playing footy and not trying to injure Walsh game may have ended differently. Thought hopgood was solid good debut!

There were a few sets before Sualii got sent where NSW had no line speed in defence. It's what led to the first QLD try. Worrying signs from very early on in that game.
I thought they had a good crack most of the game and good completion rate, just think they focused to much on Walsh when he's just one player. Lot of the papers and media also hyped up that rubbish. Few changes for game 2 and nsw will be closer to the mark
Prob best, Moses maybe a Terrell may and Murray come in ? Jurbo was a plodder, Hynes is useless.
Are there more than 1 Terrell May? Madge get to choose them all then!
Why you say...a Terrell?
Yea and the Nico 7 tackle set.
you dont need line speed every tackle slowly moving up together to maintain a straight line is a viable strategy. if you have line speed where 1-3 players rush up can cause massive holes for the attacking team to exploit if the tackle is not successful or if they make an offload.
No offence, but what a crock of shit.
No one goes into a game with intentions to injure a player to take them out of the game.
It was a hard hit that would've been fine if Walsh hadn't slipped into it.
If he got straight up instead of milking it, Suaalii would've got 10 in the bin instead of sent off.
When you fly in like that only 2 things are gonna happen, hit him in ribs and both players get up or take his head off. Risky play and nsw copped the worst of it. Ball was gone to and hammer was halfway up the field. Just think nsw main objective was to smash Walsh anytime he was near the ball. Stupid coaching imo but that's from my qld perspective lol
It was no different to Martin's hit on Hopgood.
Only thing was, Hopgood didn't slip in the tackle and then lay on the ground milking it for a send off.
Agreed; it was not a send off. Klein is and always will be crap; it wrecked the game and will hurt the series; Suaalii was hugely missed with his runs and defence. All of these do gooders on tv seem to forget its origin, and the little ahole slipped as he was about to be tackled. Our outside defence was shot after this and Hynes defence at time was avg
