Loyalty is not a dirty word

Sitting here on saturday morning after a match is always a bit whimsical, get a win on a thursday or a friday and you can relax and watch the others belt the shit out of each other. Have a loss and you don't have to worry again for the weekend.

You know what disappoints me most after last night, not the teams performance but the supporters who like to commentate during the game. Very rarely I bother to do this, usually thinking about the match rather than what clever or observational comments that I can make to get attention.

That's not everyone of course there are a couple of genuine experts on there like Bup who I actually look for to get a direction on my own opinions.

So last night was disappointing but not unexpected. RCG, Sivo and Lane would have made a difference, against a side that is as red hot as this Broncos side, probably not good enough anyway.

This lack of respect of the quality of the opposition is the "most disappointing" out of the whole thing. That side is one for the ages, last year we put 50 on them and every dog has his day, last night it was not ours......we have had a shit of a season and have died from a "thousand cuts" Hey Boys and Girls shit happens and all you "poor me's" out there, get a life, its a fucking football team, there are so many horrible things currently happening in the world either accidently or deliberately, keep some perspective!

Never in the 70 plus years I have followed Parra have I once said "that'll do me" it seems that we have someone saying that everytime something bad happens, playing, reffing, watching etc.

Next week we will line up again and my heart will be in the same place, yes expectations change and mine will rise and fall, just like the team......but I will still be there at the end, regardless!

  • Agree mate. It's behind us now we move on

  • Good post Poppa. Some reflection time always help.

I think everyone here bleeds blue and gold too. Deep down they wouldn't be here if they didn't. Their heart's eachweek really start with pure hope and excitement to watch their team play. They probably schedule their weekends and Friday nights to make sure they don't miss the game.  I know I do. I don't think I have missed a game unless it was out of my control. Even then I'd avoid the scoreline until i get home. When I was living in the US, I'd get up early to watch the game. That's tragic and a little sad I know.

What you see here has nothing to do with loyalty. After nearly 40 years of no premiership, I'd argue we'd have to be the most loyal fans in any professional sport!

This is all about frustration. The club we are devoted to supporting is not acknowledging that changes need to be made. BA has been good, but he isn't good enough. He has had a decade to prove us a wrong. I backed him. The clubs persistence is what hurts the most. Mediocrity is the norm. There is no sign of hope and unfortunately it has been that way for too long.

  • I agree Poppa has I've followed them for 70years. I'm not so angry with the team they do there best each week but what I'm angry with is the administration that seems to refuse to chase back up players with reasonable ability. We seam to go from the penthouse to the shit house with just a couple of players out and it's about time we start building this club back up from the bottom up.

    • I mean really good quality players

  •  People comment during games, whether online or at the game. You aren't going to stop that. It's mostly venting rather than attention.

  • I don't usually post on here during a game but last night I was moved to post that for such a big lad - Ofangaue runs it as soft as I've seen with a wee little skip or two. Has he always done this or since he arrived at Parra? I could here on the audio Mitch Moses yelling 'run hard Ofa'. He seems here to collect a pension if you ask me. Moretti on the other hand absolutely rips in.

Anyway Poppa back to the point of your post - I agree time to chill and reflect, Broncos to me look like they might win the comp and they are only a slightly different outfit to the one we spanked by 50 last year. Sometimes it's only a couple of players that make all the difference and League is all about momentum. We couldn't get why this year.

  • The most disappointing thing for me is the capitulation.

Tactically we can't win against a fast moving defense going one out.If you want to win in the middle third you have to throw some tricks at a defense to keep it honest unfortunately we just don't when the confidence isn't there.

Ive never cared for records and how long it's been it means nothing too me I always keep my eyes on the horizon.

    • Agree Coryn. There is no deception in our plays. You will know what each and every player will do when carrying the ball. I said before, our players needs to be good 'actors' in allowing opposition to believe one thing, and our player will do another. Currently, it is what you see is what you get. No variations. How many dummies and steps left/ right the Broncos did to us last night that leads to tries. With us, got one hit-up plays.

  • I'm hearing ya pops,  side by side  " TRENCH  WARFARE  "  suddenly  springs into mind  .

  • I agree too ...to be sure it aint the end of the world.....its sux no doubt about it and we are likely to go 40 yrs without a premiership...but hey I am and will always support the Eels......gotta take the good with the bad ..haha
