Lowrie would stay for less

Todd Lowrie says he will take a pay-cut to stay at Parramatta but admits the salary cap means it doesn't look likely he'll be in blue and gold next year."I'd be prepared to take a pay cut to stay at Parra, but we'll just have to wait and see," Lowrie was quoted as saying in Rugby League Week. He said the way the salary cap was structured, made it difficult for clubs to offer plays incentive-based contracts.Lowrie put his improved form down to the consistency of being in the side week in, week out."This is the most comfortable I've ever felt in a team. In the past I'd be stressing about every little run I have or tackle I make."Lowrie said he hoped to stay in the NRL but would look at the UK if he didn't receive a satisfactory offer.Full story in this week's Rugby League Week

  • C U Later - No point wasting our cap
  • Sorry Todd, you're performances have improved out of sight this season but I'm afraid it's too little, too late.
    • shut up u spastic
  • wenthworthville may sign him up on an incentive based contract. Every win, a case of beer
  • Dam I'm going to be critical here !!!!but Lowrie has only started to earn his money in the last 3 months at the club!!!!

His form of the last 3 months is the only reason why the bloke would attract any interest from clubs in the NRL!!!

Its all nice and well to say I'm willing to take a paycut to stay at Parra obviously only when it suits him!! and he has miraculously played himself into a position over the last 2 -3 months to bargain......... or is he??

IMO I wouldnt be saddened to see the bloke leave he still brings back too many bad memories of the Hagan era!!!!
  • This story makes me so very sad. Todd has been my adopted player for the year and has come along in such leaps and bounds.

I agree in that only this year he has begun to show his true ability, but as I have argued before, I would say this would be the result of the confidence of the team, and the influence of a new coach. Toddy is a Newcastle boy and has been with Hagan for a long time. DA seems to have worked wonders for him - and I am super proud of him.

He didn't even know he had a Squad! :-(
    • I like your take on things Mary!! I'll join the squad with you :)
      • Yeah, I'm in the squad too. So many people have conveniently forgotten how many injuries he has had. He is finally fit and healthy and getting his confidence back, thus producing! How long did it take Joey Johns to come back...oh well, this will fall on one-minded deaf ears.
        • Thank you both SO much for your support of the Todd.

I thought I would be the only one who would really miss him.  I think he has really benefited from the coaching of DA, much like some of our other players. He needs to be congratulated for the progress he has made and how hard he tries, each week.
  • My understanding was that Lowrie is on 180K per season. He would be lucky to be worth 100K per season.. thats in the form he's in now... BTW: His form has dipped slightly in the past 2 weeks.
