lost opportunities

Yes,we lost 12 competition points....BUT.....

Eels 18-0 vs Sharks LOST

Eels vs Panthers 14-0 LOST

Eels vs Raiders 16-0 LOST

throw in Eels 20-6 vs Rabbitohs LOST, Eels 18-12 vs Panthers (first game) in the 76th minute LOST and Cowboys up 14-0 then Parra fight back 16-14 then lose in convincing fashion...

Yes the boys have played well under adversity all season but serious question marks over the "mentally tough" issue still....

don't care who's in or out of the team,it's FG & if you're good enough to run up a huge lead, then you should be good enough to close out the game from the opposition.

just end this bloody season already

  • We have a winger playing in the halves and have had back rowers in the centres, give them a break hey!
    • it's still very ordinary letting these game winning leads slip away far too often

    • It is disappointing but we really haven't had a great year off the field and got half the team we wanted to be fielding at this time of the year
  • Agree with this post. No excuses for throwing those games away with huge leads
  • THEY SHOULD CUT GAMES DOWN TO 40 MINUTES ONLY

    • Agreed
  • Agree, Jezza, those games where we squandered leads are troubling. It looked like BA had stamped it out but then we started losing players and then losing points and it all unravelled. I think if we go game by game we will, though, see a pattern, where we have make-shift centers or halves and our edge defense flounders. BA has shown he can fix this, indeed the Raiders final 15 minutes demonstrates it, with Jennings swapping sides and all of a sudden our defense is solid again and we went close to scoring 3-4 times. For me, what all this shows is that if BA's first choice halves and centers play our defensive structures are very good. We all know we need to recruit at 7 and 9 for 2017, but our defensive issues in some games have always turned on the lack of a quality backup centre. Some won't like me saying it, but we could have done with Ryan Morgan. Question is, will BA focus on a quality backup winger, and just swap Gutho to centre if Jennings or Taka go down in 2017?
    • Prof, I know I keep hammering this but our small pack is playing tired, very tired. They last 40 mins and then are exhausted. If they actually offloaded we would be playing much better. When we played Raiders and beat them 36-6 we offloaded a lot in that game and have since gone back to bash and barge taking a toll on the forwards.

  • Are u for real? We lost the panthers game because we had no centres on the Park. Once beau Scott moved to defend in the centres they scored all their points. By the time he was moved the damage was done. Today we had no chance, we were five bucks at the tab that should say it all. Canberra should of won easily, and we almost got em, they got two tries of lucky kicks. Simple fact of the matter it we don't have the class in the halves to make the correct decisions or plays for 80 minutes. Robson's knock on in front of the posts is a perfect example of this. We've swapped halves and centres around all year which is why our attack is clunky. Today toutai was targeted, he's a reserve centre again Croker. He was always going to get shown up. Centre is a specialist position these days trying to read attacking moves.

When we once again have class in the halves, centres as centre and play without injury and disruptions to our key positions we'll be fine. The fact that we were even in a position to win some of those games is almost a miracle, and a testament to what ba has built and achieved.
