Lost Nines Competition.

If the NRL finally gets around to punish the Eels--said to be next week, but that has been said before!---by taking the Nines victory from us. I think our administration should produce our own medals and winning cups or shields, based on the NRL`s originals, and present them to the players and staff who participated in winning that event. A gala night could be held with all the media invited. A banner with an Eels player cocking a snook at the NRL`s, you know who, could be produced and hung on the wall. Message : We will never surrender! A lot of those players were Wenty players . Why should they be penalised?

Losing the Nines is bullshit because it's got nothing to do with the salary cap. There are rules in place forcing teams to field a certain number of top five and top twenty five paid players, because otherwise most teams would not send a single first grader. For that reason, Nines success is unrelated to cheating the cap.

  We didn't win any premierships during the cap saga, so I guess the NRL has to strip us of the only thing we did win.

Ian, it's not just the Storm fans, it's their management that think they won premierships. I was invited into the Storm CEO's box for the recent Panthers game and was speaking with a few of their other guests to their commercial manager who was banging on about the clubs 4 premierships. I interrupted him and said "whoa, whoa whoa there sport,...... Two premierships!"
He looked at me and then said, "our team has won 4 Grand Finals."
I didn't want to make too big an issue of it as I hadn't been fed at that stage and the bar was still full.

If Freddy Fittler can take the field in the Nines, how can salary cap be a part of it?

I am not sure how we have a Salary cap on the 9s tournament....

Especially when the Roosters have Anasta and Fittler playing for them... Do they count towards the cap that season?

The record books say 2. Wikipedia has the Storm 2007 and 2009 titles scratched out. I guess Storm fans can still watch their GF victories on DVD, but it doesn't count.

The stripping of the 9s is petty in my opinion but in saying that its a micky mouse comp didn't care when we won it either.
We also won a couple of john mannah cuos while we were cheating should strip them off us aswell. Maybe even a bandage bear cup too.

  Agreed. It smacks of petulance by the NRL. Whilst I won't be losing sleep over it, I'm at a loss to understand why the NRL are doing this in a comp where the salary cap or TPA'S play no part in its outcome. ..
