LOSING MATEO, CAYLESS and GROTHE

so reading an article on daily telegraph .com basiclly saying grothe will need to take an
$80 000 pay cut on any new contract we giv him if he wants to stay at the club.
Mateo will be offered $400 000 from NZ, we can only offer him $230 000 a season. And that like we all probably guessed by now Cayless will prob be moved to the bench and our cap will be helped by him retiring at the end of the year. SO. your thoughts.

Mine personally are. Bye Bye mateo. We wnt use him in a playmaker role so there is no point keeping him or trying to match any other offers. He is playing pretty poorly and from all specualtions we hear about mateo and anderson not really clicking, if this is a real deal offer from the warriors. He is gone.

Grothe on $180 000 a season atm, to drop to $100 000 a season. id keep grothe for 100 000 absolutely. that is a very cheap price consodering he makes more metres than our whole forward pack atm. But if he stays. I dunno. almost a 50% pay cut if sources are accurate.

And cayless. Love the bloke. He tries. He just cnt bend the line back anymore. He will get benched soon enough and this will prob be his last season unless a MASSIVE paycut comes his way and he wants to play on.

  • i agree mate cayless is to old we have to look to the future and hindmarsh is on his last legs to but he is an awsome player so i think he should last around another year i think hindy coodve lasted longer had he not had such a work load back in 03 04 and late in 06 he was playing 80 minutes and tackleing everythin back in those days due to our forward pack not being sooo strong but he is getting old and time to move on
  • How come Mateo runs with the ball in one hand like a basketballer?.....he has dropped more ball than any one,and seems to throw it to other players never a proper pass,he looks like some one trying to learn how to play? yes/no?Cayless is the most pathetic captain out there, never leads the team, all he does is listen to the ref when the ref calls the parra captain.Parra dosn't have a leader on the paddock,,none!!!!!! Jarrod if given the chance is young and has the spirit to lead the boys.......Also our forwards never hit it up an pass to some one to make some meters....they so predictable.....duh.....get the pass from the dummy half an run forward an take any tackle,or fall over, get up panting and sweating like you just ran from Melbourne non stop,Sorry guys all ya forwards look fat an out of condition,Next,Robson, omg what a joke as a pro footballer,no brain but he can tackle. He is out of position in that side, his position??????? ummmm, orange boy for the geriatric all stars.Really the guy doesnt have a clue at halfback.Grothe,next.....He is needed to play at lock,as he leaves his wing all the time looking for the ball.He is strong and can break tackles an offload very well,if given the space, isnt that what a super lock does?...He is wasted on the wing.Does Parra have anyone that can fill the halfback possie?.....Does Parra have a real leader on the paddock?........interested to find out.....thnx...all opinions are a group discussion by my family dedicated Parra followers......but very down at the moment..tc
  • Mate there is something call "Space Bar", please use it more often.
  • All gone for mine. Inu and Burt on the wings.

    Money spent on forwards
  • Cayless has to go. Cant believe he played in the grand final last year and did absolutely nothing cause of his leg miswell of had 16 players on the field. Time to give the new talent a go.
  • You guys are being a bit harsh on Mateo. He s playing as well as the team around him for the moment. When the team gets better he ll be able to show what he s capable of. Moving Tahu to his outside has taken from his ability in the early rounds. He had a good understanding with Inu towards the end of last year and now he has to build that up with tahu who doesnt seem to back him up when he gets his hands free for an offload. He's the type of player if forced to move on to another club can come back to hurt parra. One of our best towards the end of last year, sure he might have a mistake in him but he has the courage to try and create as well unlike some others.
  • I'd only be sad to see Mateo leave, he is such a talented player and his ball playing skills/second phase play is second to none. Grothe on the other hand scored a great try in last year's grand final, but his ball handling is terrible and defense at times is very lazy. Cayless has turned into Michael Vella, once was a great player, but should of left a few years ago.
  • Grothe is playing well this year and is one of the few guys who has been trying his guts out in every game. He is not to blame for any of our losses. I would be trying to keep him at the club.
  • What about his ball handling? When he hits the ball up as an extra forward 1 out of 3 times he will knock-on. Although, maybe Grothe is trying to hard, he should just stay on the wing and let the forwards make the yards.
    • that's the worst idea i've ever read on this forum!

Stay on his wing instead of making hitups in the middle??? Do you want us to be kicking from our own 20m line each set?? Grothe is the only player making yards!!

As for handling errors - i havent seen him knock on once this year???? If i am wrong, it's still a hell of a lot less than most others in the team
