Stay the course BB. I remember the 80's well, AND the dark days that preceded them. We've been in an extended trough due to piss poor management of the club ( both football and Leagues) but that is changing. Too slowly, I agree, but it is changing.
Yeah tell me about it... tonight I was watching the game at an RSL, surrounded by drunks cheering on the Broncos. I was sitting there fantasizing about what it would be like to crack 1st grade and the honor of being able to represent a great club like the Eels. To have a huge, passionate fan base and get paid good money to train and play footy.
All they have is one game a week. That's what everything builds up to. I watched the game tonight and it felt like half the team just didn't care or had already given up in their own mind. FFS - why wouldn't you give it all you've got?
The icing on the cake was the last play of the game. Yes, we couldn't win - but Joseph Paulo just ran the ball up, turned his back and fell into the tackle. What the eff, why did he just give up and take the tackle, not to mention the fact that he's never run hard and straight at the line in his life.
Watch the Eels V Broncos highlights at Suncorp 2008. Eels are on top, after 80 minutes. Lockyer makes a gig after the siren, winger chases 30m or so, beats Grothe Jr. and scores a try.... to win the game. Yeah we couldn't win today, but why give up?
I love watching League. I'll just be watching other teams and not hold my breath for us. Looks like another spoon this year
