NRL's off-contract stars list for 2024: Who your club could lose on the open market

Parramatta Eels

Players off contract in 2024: Bailey Simonsson, Daejarn Asi, Makahesi Makatoa, Jirah Momoisea, Ofahiki Ogden, Ky Rodwell.

Analysis: The Eels are in a strong roster position, with all of their big names tied up on long-term deals. Winger Bailey Simonsson and back-up half Daejarn Asiare the ones to watch on this list, with both likely to get offers elsewhere if they are not extended by Parramatta.

  • Bailey needs skills training, too dropsy at crucial times

    • Need speed out back. Penrith pair Taylan May and Turuva are both off contract end 2024. Proven big game champions. Either one would be better than Simonsson or Sivo

  • Depends on who develops and who is available.

Rodwell and Momo, at this stage, are not going to be missed. Simonsson and the others might be worth reviewing at a later stage.

    • Rodwell will be gone during pre-season if he can find a club to go to, we do not want him i believe. Momoisea is a potential develop player.

  • Hopefully after a pre season at centre Simmo improves. Have to be aware last season he had pre season on the wing. The others r not important

    • Last year he was injured during pre season with a shoulder injury.

I think now they see him exclusively as a centre and will fill that role from the start

  • Simonsson has apparently been offered an extension, he has yet to accept. I reckon he is waiting to see if he has a future at Centre with us. Not wanting to extend to be a Winger.

With Rugby calling he might try to get big coin in Rugby.

Rodwell is gone, if he can find a club he will go. Momoisea is a potential development, Makatoa will not be re-signed purely on age. He may be signed to a one year deal, but he is 31 in January so we might prefer moving younger with depth. Asi will go after 2024, we all know that. We move towards Talagi and perhaps Lynn as a our future back-up halves.

    • Who'd want to go to rugby atm?

      Rugby Australia is in shambles

      • waqa blake does

      • He could play with All-Blacks. But there is a chance to shift to French Rugby that has a lot of money in it.
