  • He brilliant, nice foot work.

  • Rather see his highlights from Reserves last season. Going good against school boys is fine but how's he go against men.

    • Its a hard one to judge at present, he is quick and slick and he has good touch.

His ability to defend will show up to the coaches in the preseason process, he is really a case of huge natural ability and many of these kids fit that category, when push comes to shove how bad do you want it becomes the test ?
I have only seen the kid in highlight packages but the reports I got back from last season is he really struggled in Reserve Grade defensively. These little blokes all have that problem at the beginning unless they are physically advanced.

Take a guy like Joash last year, when he went to first grade, (he played a lot of Reserve Grade} he knew how he would be judged!  we all knew he could run and play but he put his shoulder to the wheel and showed he could tackle. I think that is why we have endeared him because of that. Moses was not that different when he came to grade and when he finally arrived at Parra, he knew that everyone would judge him a turnstyle in defence, he put his head down and was privately coached to where he is respected defensively. No Andrew Johns or Dyllan Brown defensively but more than adequate.

Natural body strength plays a big role when you back up defensively every week, I believe trying to do that caused Moses his injury problems. I think the current coaching staff realise that and the are retraining him to be more a cover defender and much more a backup support to the forwards who are making breaks and don't have that type of support, he can provide.

If people think back to Lockyer and Thurston they tended to have minders in their forward pack, Tony Carroll comes to mind in the Broncos protecting  Lockyer! We need to do this with Moses to prevent more injuries.

      • Agree, it's probably expected that he struggled defending in Reserves first year but it's how he went about the task I'm more interested in. Same with attack. How'd he go about things? That's what I'd like to get a gauge on.

What are our coaching boffins seeing in him that led to him being anointed as the chosen #6 for 2027?

        • I am not sure, he may be just a pluck at present, I suppose he has got to hold Volkner and Joash out of 5/8 assuming Fletcher gets the half job. If say Moses gets injured say first few games, Pezet would be the half and I suspect Joash the 5/8 with Volkner pressing. ????

  • Lorenzo is an outstanding talent no question.  Great feet, eyes up footballer who can change games very quickly.  I have been fortunate to have witnessed his development from the last 4 years. HE could be anything. He is chronically shy, hates any attention, borders on being an introvert. His problem willl be he needs direct foorty teams about the field and tell older more experienced players what he wants from them.  That is the difference between say Lincon FLETCHER and LORENZO.   Lincoln has just as many skills and attributes but communicates so well that he wont have an issue barking orders. Dont think Lincoln plays SG Ball but may find himself in Nsw Cup.
