Lolohea at 6 and Norman at 7?

Warriors coach Andrew McFadden’s decision not to give Tuimoala Lolohea quality game time could come back to bite him, with the youngster’s manager fielding interest from five NRL clubs over the weekend.Lolohea, who is regarded as one of the game’s brightest prospects, has recently been relegated to the bench and only entered the field in the 81st minute of the Warriors’ golden point loss to Manly on Saturday night.Tuimoala Lolohea in action for the Warriors earlier in the year.Tuimoala Lolohea in action for the Warriors earlier in the year.Source: Getty Images“I can tell you other clubs are ready to pounce,” Fox Sports’ NRL reporter Lara Pitt revealed on Monday Night with Matty Johns.“His manager told me today that during that game on Saturday night, he got three text messages from three clubs asking if he wanted to leave the Warriors.“By the end of the weekend, he actually had five clubs offering him a starting spot at six or one.“Andrew McFadden went to the effort of calling Tui’s manager this morning saying he’s still in his plans — he simply couldn’t find a way to get him into that game.”

  • Lolohea is a fullback. Unless your 7 is Jonathan Thurston, Lolohea isn't the kind of 6 you want in your team.
    • Probably right, PE. But gee the kid is an excitement machine ball-in-hand
  • Lolohea will be Warriors 6 next year when Leuluai goes back to the English League.

  • McFadden is a shit coach
    • Some of the decisions he makes as a coach are just terrible.I sometimes think he is deliberately trying to get sacked so he is paid out

  • Andrew McFadden for NSW Origin Coach!!!!!

  • So the report has him getting email offers from 5 NRL clubs, so what, who is he & what makes him so special he's 21, plays at 6 or 1. Have we not got enough players suitable for the 1 position at the club?

What of the 6? well that's a bit fluid at the moment one would think owing to the uncertainty surrounding Norman & next year, we also have some problems to sort out with the 7 for next year as well..

I am more inclined to be looking at someone like Blake Green, if we lose on Norman, or a punt on Jackson Hastings for a younger developing player.

We have to also consider the players coming through the junior ranks as well, they are young & none ready for the top, but then again how many said the same about French.  Would the same have been said regarding other clubs who 6 & 7's who are under 20 or around that mark & doing ok, all it needs is a fair chance or opportunity from the coaching staff.

  • I thought you couldn't negotiate (approach a player) until the player was in his last year of his contract....which Lolohea is not.

    • Apparently this rule has been abolished.
    • Rule abolished a few years ago. Only rule now is NRL haa discretion over when it registers a contract and apparently won't if more than 12 months out

"I got excited thinking maybe a Winger, but seems he is a middle forward. We have plenty of them coming through with Talagi, Koina and Popo.
Hopefully he can be an edge where we have Funa-Iuta and Petrus as the only really great prospects in junior…"
