Letter to Brad- our spine for 2017

We need to resign robson, hed be a calming influence on Norman as well as a good guide for Cornish.... I cant see norman at 7 and hayne at 6, it just wont work.... Fullback for hayne??? No, he isnt as fit or fast as he used to be.... Still very powerful ball runner and and great defensively we need hayne at centre.. Sack jenko we need salary cap space....imagine hayne at centre, radradra would love that.....And lets give gutherson or french a go at fullback because in the libe of defense they not the best.....9. Pritchard/king7. Robson/Cornish6. Norman1. Gutherson/frenchWe need hayne at centre!Norman with a calming influence in the halves is vital. As well as our line defence needs will be toughened up with gutherson/french at fullback.... Forget haynes past, lets look forward!!!Cmon parra

  • Robson is at the END of his career - he would struggle to go around at NRL level for another year.

Hayne is 28 - there is no reason to think that he has lost any of his speed. He may actually be quicker.

It's the Gutho/French/Edwards combo that has a bit of a defensive issue, for obvious reasons. Obviously that will sort itself out as the team gets back closer to full strength.

  • Id be very surprised if we see Cornish in 1st grade next year, not sure on his contract details but he's not 1st grade quality even as a replacement, and theres a lot to be worked out still with Semi, not even sure if he will be here next year.

  • Robson is just handy depth.
  • I could be wrong but when Robson was released by the Warriors I thought I read that he was retiring at the end of the yr
  • If we buy another Half for next season and also sign Hayne, we will be effectively pushing someone out of our current squad. Could Gutherson play 5/8 with Norman at half, that way we will have a backline of:
    1. Hayne
    2. Semi ( hopefully )
    3. Jennings
    4. Taka
    5. French ( a full off season to put some bulk on and work on his defence )
    6. Gutherson
    7. Norman

I would certainly look for another halfback but he would have to come at a good price, T. Marie-Martin. Nu Brown or Sam Williams might be worth a shot at.

If another Half does comes to the club it would mean Taka to the Backrow or bench.
  • French has been groomed to play fullback next season, so lets not change that plan, however i believe that Hayne has a great long kicking game and a exellent running and passing game wich all have seen on many occasions, Norman can take over kicking duties when attacking the oppositions goal line, we dont need to sighn anyone else other than Hayne imo...

    • That's a pretty good team, and I reckon you've nailed it Parramatters! I think Hayne would have learnt a lot from training with the 49ers and he will be a much better RL player for it. I also think the likes of young blokes French and Gutherson will keep Hayne on his toes so that he doesn't switch off during games.

If we can finally have a year free of media overexposure then I think we are a massive chance for 2017.

    • I like it but I'd definitely find a place in that 17 for Alvaro.
    • Agree with this team. If we are winning games with Edwards at 6 imagine what Hayne can bring!

    • The only thing I don't like about this is Guthers at 5. He is becoming a quality centre and I don't want to mess with that. I love Taka, but I would prefer him at 14 then Guthers at wing.
