In his reply to 'The Cast Patrol', Hayne wrote: "One team didn't lose. They were cheated. Plz (sic) get it right."

Good on you Haynsey! Dead right!

Actually his point about Brett Finch comments re salary cap brings awareness and knowing of their salary cap being beyond tight, and regards the small amount he was paid by storm is something I wasn't aware of... Brett was.
Tbh I find it irritating that 2009 premiership  is always included in Storms winning portfolio too.

Besides all the dodgy salary cap stuff, I recall listening to Cronk, On The Couch, where he said they concentrated heavily all week prior on just coming up with a plan to stop Hayne. Was a great show actually.

Anyway, not your fault at all Jarryd buddy! Gave us much joy watching him play and what a year it was :)

Not sure if I can paste it all here, so here's the link ...

        • I don't as a fact Mace, your right when you say the time line is different, but there was talk at the time (our inquisition from 2014 and going back) of the paper bags that 36k was given to Jarryd, no one could be identified as to who actually put that money up......maybe it was take away night and it was Jarryd's shout or in turn he was collecting from each player a dinner box and free cokes for the up and comers.....as much as I love everything about Jarryd as a player, I suspect all a long with those other little devil's that he was no "angel". LOL....... I suppose I am suggesting the practice was well established but Jarryd was given every encouragement to stay with Parra, both legally and illegally. Iam sure the Melb practice was never in isolation.

PS I suggest in those year's that quiet a few got to eat takeaway!

          • Yeah nah ha

if the nrl could've pinned us on anything going back years to these dates guarantee they would've ...geez they even broke news of Con the fruitier getting free bloody tickets ;)

Jarryd's 100% right they still had the conscience to buy Finch and add him to the lineup is purely disgusting!

            • That was not the point I was making Mace, the point in question was why other players did not stand up and voice their rights about Parra winning in 2009. After all the Storm shit came out.

I agree with you on the Finch accusations.

      • Your crazy..lol the topic is the Melbourne cap scandal as the Title  suggests..FFS focus for once in your life, your definitely NOT a fine wine haha

        • Micky are you addressing me in that post? If so my comment is related to the Melb Cap, even as a precedent before Parra did anything, but the context was why Parra never stood up and fought the aspect of them being awarded the competition. My conjecture is that "still waters" run deep.

Not being a fine wine doesn't seem to fit in anywhere, probably the same as your transition to adulthood!

      • There's no way you could give it to the runner up. Brisbane, who lost to Melbourne the week before, could also lay claim to the premiership. Let's go to 2007, we lost to Melbourne in the Prelim that year. Should we have made that GF and possibly won it? We were denied the chance because instead of facing Melbourne in the GF, we faced them in the Prelim.

As for the Olympic Games, their finals are made up of multiple runners / swimmers etc. You can easily reallocate the gold when there was a field of 8 in the final.

        • It's not  fair but neither is a team that cheated claiming to be premiers after having the title stripped.

By naming the original runner up as premiers you take away the ability of the cheats to stake claim to the title as the storm still do almost 20 years later.

          • YES

  • I have always been one to say that someone must be declared the winner of the competition.

If it has been declared that the Storm cheated and they were not considered the winners then just like the Olympics the title goes to the runner up.

2009 Eels Premiership! I can't see it it any other way. The club should consider having a trophy made and displayed at HQ. That would throw the cat among the pigeons with the Storm proudly showing off their Trophy for the same year.

One small thing that haunts me, as you say here, not one other Eels player has ever come out and called it as it is. WHY!  I do hope we were not rorting at the same time.
