In his reply to 'The Cast Patrol', Hayne wrote: "One team didn't lose. They were cheated. Plz (sic) get it right."

Good on you Haynsey! Dead right!

Actually his point about Brett Finch comments re salary cap brings awareness and knowing of their salary cap being beyond tight, and regards the small amount he was paid by storm is something I wasn't aware of... Brett was.
Tbh I find it irritating that 2009 premiership  is always included in Storms winning portfolio too.

Besides all the dodgy salary cap stuff, I recall listening to Cronk, On The Couch, where he said they concentrated heavily all week prior on just coming up with a plan to stop Hayne. Was a great show actually.

Anyway, not your fault at all Jarryd buddy! Gave us much joy watching him play and what a year it was :)

Not sure if I can paste it all here, so here's the link ...

      • True, but being able to stick and play together as they grew probably helped. What the club did to help that happen is  the issue.

      • That group can wait in line, Brett Kenny, Cliff Lyons, Glenn Lazarus Terry Lamb & Sterlo imo are ahead of this Smith, Slater, Inglis and Cronk at this point in time - I never said  "The money or boats or whatever they received didn't make them better players" - All are great players in thier own right.

      • Well that where you're wrong.  It did make them better players as they were what they were because they were able to play together ya muppet.

Would Cronk have been as good if he was playing at Wests , next to Luke Brooks ?  Or aging Braith Anasta ?  Or if Slater left and went to Newcastle chasing his big paycheque ?

No . So don't tell us they were not better players due to Bellamy keeping them mostly together ( other than Inglis ) they were good because they got to run off equally as good players. Just like Hayne would've been 10x the player Slater was if he was running off Smith or Cronk.

        • What a load of crap. Smith would have been Smith no matter what team he played for. Same as Slater. Cronk moved to the chooks and proved he didn't need the other 2 to perform.

          • They developed as talented players together, how could that not help them become greater at their craft. Of course it did. Storm salary cap avoidance helped that stability happen.

          • They deveeloped all together as a bloody spine for heavens sake; and TBH none of them should be immortals IMO - they took extra cash and cheated; and the same should have been for Johns (drugged up but nice forgotten).

V good players as a spine but cheats; and I refer to Mick's comments

          • Cronk moved to the Chooks at the end of his career after he had spent years with the other two, when he was already established as one of the best in the game. Don't forget he was a manufactured half back. Do you really think he would have gone on to be as great as he was without the stars around him? I very much doubt it.

          • How would you know? It didn't happen.

That's called logic not an opinion, whats the evidence to back your comment about Cam Smith? None, simple as that.

          • Shows what you know Micheal ya drongo. Not that you needed to confirm it , but you have proved you're a dingbat.,

        • Exactly its called a perfect storm, that group played to thier potential because of thier environment, coaching, club culture, news limited backing the list goes on - Cronk proved he can step outside of that Melbourne storm system, take everything he was taught along way i.e. from Bennett and other influences on the way and then develop his own - Cronk and Inglis are the exception. Slater and Cam Smith didn't so that remains the unknown.
