Let's be honest time.

I expected us to finish 12th this year so finishing 5th in my eyes is a massive over-achievement. Even when we were in the 8 but after being flogged by a cricket score at Suncorp vs the Storm I didn't think we'd make the 8, let alone 5th.

What was your preseason tip for Eels ladder finish in 2019?

  • Once it was announced Norman was off to the dragons I had us finihsing in the 8. It was hard to see us finishing there after the flogging at the hands of storm but credit to the team for winning games after that not many would of picked us to win. We are also 1 of 4 teams to not drop out of the 8 this season (other teams being storm, rabbits and raiders).

  • I thought bottom 4 - based on the fact that we were worse than terrible last year.

    • Well done for winning the J.J. Giltinan Shield, Sluggy!!! Let's see know if your form will take you all the way to win the big one :)

    • We're letting go of Mannah, Tep and Ma'u. Hardly heartbreaking. Manu OK but he can and will be easily replaced. Saying that, this year was probably his best season for us.

      • Best season??? You know fuck all!!!

        • It's only my opinion but what do I know, Professor.

  • Tipped around 10th. Credit to the whole team but if I'm honest it's been a real soft competition this year and we've had a favourable draw. So many teams fell over themselves this year. I think we still need a few more additions to the team.

  • After finishing 4th in 17, then the debacle of 18, The only thing I expected us to do was play semi final footy again in 19.. I’m more worried about next year & being able to improve on this  year. Anything less will be ‘bye bye BA’. It’s time for this team to stay consistent for “longer” periods rather than every second year.

  • I had us in the 8, but I had manly and Canberra down the bottom.

  • I honestly didn’t think we would make the 8 finishing around 12-10th. After that flogging things were looking grim so it’s been a top shelf effort from the players and coach to get us into the 8.

Realistically from 5th place, anything from here on in will be a bonus. Should we go deeper? Well I think we are a good chance vs the donkeys and I think we can beat the raiders in Canberra if it comes to that but I think we need Monto to pray for the side after that.
