LET KEARNEY CREATE A TEAM - PATIENCE PLEASE !

This site is a daily frenzy of who has signed or is expected to sign, and everytime we come up with that empty feeling.  Stephen KEARNEY is a talented coach who has learnt from a very astute football coach in Bellamy and mentored by the very best there is  in Wayne Bennett.  He has already indicated that he will be preoccupied with the Four nations for some time.

The Parramatta squad resumes training for 2011 on 1 November, 2010. We need to be patient with this whole thing. Even though we lost Mateo, INU, Keating, Wright - I am confident that we can show a very big improvement in 2011.   We get our structure and shape in attack right, we introduce options other than going straight to hayne and we blend a few talented kids and I know we will be hard to beat. Our defence will be stronger with the focus towards wrestling and similar techniques  deployed by all NRL clubs.

The melb system works and Kearney will try and replicate it here I am sure.  I remember when Cooper CRONK first started playing NRL for melbourne - he was a ' nobody ' and he is now an elite NRl player. Our talented kids HUMBLE, SIO, LOKO, MURRAY and co will be taught from some of the most talented young coaches in the game.

Point I am making is this to be successful in the NRL we need to ensure we have the following in place :

  • STRUCTURE    ( need it big time )
  • STRONG FRONT OFFICE   ( major issues as we know )
  • STRONG DISCIPLINE & ATTITUDE  ( comes with the new coach and his team )
  • WINNING CULTURE  ( starts in Round 1 and builds )
  • ONE CLUB, ONE GOAL  ( we contribute to that I think )

Bring on March........

  • Totally agree Paul. Kearney knows what he's doing. I mean, he has won the world cup, no mean feat. However, at the same time, it is totally acceptable for people to express their views on this site, as well as gossip on who we should sign. However, the key points you mention are all crucial (eg - structure), but I do feel you've missed out on somthing - Kearney must find a halfback. I'm all for working with what we've got, but in terms of depth, we're not covered in the halves (Robson, Humble, Murray, Mortimer) - all young, and quite experienced. There's a difference between NYC/NSW cup and NRL, but apart from that, I agree with you totally.
  • Michael,

havent missed it ( half back ) just decided to be positive and allow him time to work with what he has got. All the variables of JT, ORFORD, CRONK etc dont help things but I do have faith in his ability to squeeze the orange and make the juice from it.

I look back on 2010 as the year we couldnt attack, couldnt sustain pressure, couldnt build pressure. Our lack of structure and shape in attack is a direct result of the quality of our halves but I think the fact we didnt bend them back enough in the forwards contributed just as much IMO.....

    Cheers
  • Yes, however ONE CLUB, ONE GOAL, I just don't know if our managers and directors can focus to this level. That also ties in with STRONG FRONT OFFICE as well as STRONG DISCIPLINE & ATTITUDE, that actually starts with the Chairman and down from there.
Without the front office working you will not have the back office (players & coaches) working to 100%

I hope they can do it because we have the talent to be a top 4 side and maybe the winners.
  • So fully agree, even said in another post that I would let Kearny make the decisions as he knows a little more than the people putting some of the stupid blogs on this page
  • We also need an attitude of the titans. NO matter how far we are behind or ahead, we should fight till the very end as if it was a GF. Show no mercy.
