A couple of years ago I wrote a piece about Jarryed Hayne when he was about to go to the States to try out for NFL. I drew the parallel between Jarryed and Les Dacy and Phar Lap, the race horse. Both Darcy and Phar Lap were champions of Australia who went to America to try their luck against the best in the world. Both Darcy and Phar Lap died in America shortly after arriving.Their deaths are still controversial, with the mob still being blamed for the demise of Phar Lap who had sensational success in his only race in America. I suggested that Jarry ` sojourn in America may not be a bed of roses as the other two champions came to grief only too soon. It has come to pass in a different way and in a different time span but distressing non the less and it has not ended yet. The moral is, I think, as a champion, go to America at your risk.

Hayne is ‘innocent’ the only real issue or concern is how the media attempt to deal with it and how Hayne handles the constant barrage from the media.
Browny : Have they taken out funeral insurance? Life insurance? If not they ought to. If they are threatening the USA as world champions, the US security apparatus will take action to ensure that that does not happen in the Olympics.
Browny i have followed basketball closely both in Australia and internationally for about 30 years. If Australia beat America in the next olympics then i will walk nude backwards across the nullabor 4 times in a row without a drink. Aint gunna happen for a loong time.

Nothing controversial about Phar Lap and Les Darcy's death. Phar Lap was given a feed supplement that contained Arsenic. They gave him to much and it killed him.
Darcy died from an infection in his mouth. He was treated for something else.

Speedy with all due respect, Tommy Woodcock Phar Lap's strapper was pretty sure the horse was got at.....the poison was found in his coat....the intention of it is still a mystery with conspiracy thrown in.

Arsenic in moderation was a bit of a cure all for a lot of things to my understanding Browny.
I would be as certain as anything that Tommy would never have done anything deliberately to hurt the horse.
I am led to understand that the arsenic was only forensically found by modern forensics by examining his fur/coat samples. You would be aware that his hide is stuffed and in the Melbourne museum and I am again from memory believe that it was prepared for Taxidermy by some one in the USA. Whether that involved arsenic I would not know.
The key to one of your questions would Arsenic be stimulant to make the horse run faster. Honestly I wouldn't know as many stimulant's can "turn a horse on" but not necessarily make it run faster than it is naturally possible. Subsequent technology shows if you can get more oxygen into any animal (including man), you can increase stamina and therefore sustain speed.
I think the beauty of Robert's blog is their is an irony there and we can romance over many things with regard to conspiracy and whether it was a contributor to circumstances.
You raise good points and enhance the discussion to at least this being a jinx we should be aware of for no other reason than "interest".
Probably summate by saying no one really knows, just plenty of opinions.
