Leo Thompson

He's on the open market come November 1st.

Would he be a good replacement for RGC?

  • He'd want too much. We need too fix our backline

    • Well here is the thing. Thompson i think would only get $500k on open market. Plus with Sivo and Gutho gone along with RCG, we free up $2.1mil right there, with Paulo's $900k or so coming off the following year.

With backs we are simply looking at depth options now along with one more starter. As we have Iongi, Simonsson, Penisini and Lomax. I know some do not consider Simonsson a starter, i do. Therefore we need one more Winger, with Richie Penisini coming through for following year. If we get say Wilson, he is cheap. There is not much else out there.

So why not go for Thompson? I would have preferred an edge back-rower but Williams can play edge and Thompson the front-rower to replace RCG. Better than Afoa that was rumoured.

  • Now you're talking.

    • They only offered him an extra year and small top up this year. He wants a good deal.

If we let Sivo and Gutho go, then yeah we could afford him.

      • Really hope we are in the mix for Leo! I'd say he is gonna get a huge pay rise from Newc's from his reported cheap 350k going to test market

Gosh how much is he worth LB both have to leave to afford ha? Know you didn't mean it that way 🙂

He would def help fill massive Reg hole.

        • Agree Macy, Leo is young and on the up - if things fall into place with Gutho & Sivo the club should get the deal done.

        • Thompson is the perfect Prop for Ryles with how he has said he wants to play. Now need to see it in action but young and line speed

  • Definitely should be on the clubs radar, would be a good addition

  • Thompson would definately be a good addition, who i think has not hit his peak yet.

  • He is on 300k at Knights, easily affordable for eels
