Leilua leaving Newcastle Knights...

Just saw this interesting article about Leilua. There's been plenty of talk about the clause in his contract and will he/ wont he leave etc... Good to see an official announcement being made about his future. He reckons he's leaving the Knights for personal reasons, though I'm not sure who he wants to play for next? There's talk of him going to the Raiders, as I'm sure they'll be him well. Does anyone know if there's a chance he'll come to us? There's been previous discussion on here with people saying he has the 'wrong attitude' - Well he's fast, strong, powerful and full of fire, so what kind of attitude are we looking for? He always seems to give it his all for the Knights, plus he was one of the best players in the last 4 nations. Not sure what's going on with player recruitment for next year, regarding Izzy and other rumors about backs. Would love to have him though...

*Edit - which ever team he goes to, I hope they get TV games as he's great to watch play. Probably unlikely he'll come to us though.

The Newcastle Knights and Joey Leilua have mutually agreed to part ways at the conclusion of season 2015.

Leilua has exercised a clause in his contract allowing him to terminate the final year of his contract being 2016.

“Joey is a quality player and we are disappointed to lose him for next season however we certainly wanted to work with him to reach an amicable outcome for both parties,” Director of Football Michael Hagan said.

The Club has been working through the process with Leilua and his management before finalising the matter this week.

“This is a personal decision for me and I want to thank the Knights for working through it with me,” Leilua said.

“Now that it is finalised, I want to focus on playing good football for the Knights and finishing off the season well.”

Leilua joined the Knights in season 2013 and has played 50 games for the Club to date.

  • Was in great form last year, looks to be a player thats up and down in form, he would fit in real well here lol.

Im a big fan, hes an exciting player who could be anything, but im not sure hes the right fit for us, but thats not saying i wouldnt be excited with a guy like him in eels colours.

    • Haha, same. I suppose it's a bit like how Sandow is exciting to watch... I just hope Leilua goes to a team which gets plenty of TV games next year!

  • Oh well they've still got timana tahu.
  • First of all let us F.O.C.U.S on a WIN FIRST BE FORE WE CASE ANYBODY AND GET THIS CLUB BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN

  • Great player but sacked from the Roosters for sending naked photos of his girlfriend to people including her family when she broke up with him. I believe in second chances but that stuff is unforgivable. He is a pig of a man no thanks.
I also swear on my life that if I ever see Rob Lui in public like a bar etc, I will politely ask him to exit the premises.
    • that would make you no better than any of them, u absolute twit
