As part of the representative weekend in May, Lebanon will host Malta at St Mary's Stadium on May 3. The match will see the 24th ranked Malta Knights face off against the 23rd ranked Lebanon Cedars. Why am I blogging this? Part of it's a personal thing and the other is for international rugby league. The match is a fully sanctioned test match with world rankings points up for grabs and those points will help contribute to World Cup qualification later this year. As part of the official representative weekend, it's great to see two growing European nations play a match in our own backyard. On a personal level, I'm currently in the train-on squad with Malta. Training an extra night a week, on top of my club commitments I'm hoping to be selected for this game. I decided when I started playing this year that international representation was an obtainable goal and I'm pushing myself to achieve it. The training at representative level is a lot tougher and technically more difficult but it's enjoyable to be training alongside guys who have either previously played NRL or who are currently in junior systems or RM/NSW Cup. Who knows, what will happen, I can only train to the best of my ability and it's up to the coaching staff to make the decisions. But maybe 1 Eyed Eel will have its first international rugby league player

  • Hey good luck mate...man I miss playing league.
  • The match will also be live streamed on the web and there will be a delayed telecast. I'm not sure which TV company has the rights so I'll let you know, when I know.
  • YOU LEGEND SUPER, go get em mate, tear em a new one.

    GO MALTA

    • Cheers mate.
  • Super what position are you playing and who will you be marking if you get in.?

    • I play on the wing, although I was mistaken for a back rower at training. No idea who I'll be marking but Reece and Travis Robinson have both been sounded out by Lebanon for their availability.
  • I only started playing this year and I'm in the Parramatta A Grade competition. April 26 is when the players are told so I'll be informing you guys if I'm in the team.
  • That's awesome Super, wish I was young enough as I'm an honorary Maltese. Go Malta
  • Go Super.
