Leagues Club Election

Following last year's finalising of the all new Parramatta Leagues Club constitution and Board including 1 Eyed Eel founder and former supreme leader Phil Sim, members will be heading back to the polls.

The AGM will be held on 21 March 2021 at 10am with two board members retiring and standing for re-election pursuant to the constitution.

Greg Monaghan (President) and Sue Coleman will both be retiring their positions and standing for re-election. The Leagues Club endorses the re-election of the two candidates.

Nominations to stand for the board are open until 11.59pm 31 January 2021.

These elections are the real acid test for the new constitution and voting methods. Remember, all members who have been financial for three continuously or more can vote in person, by postal vote or by email. All eligible members will receive details on how to vote.

It's important that the two board members who are standing for re-election, in my opinion, are re-elected. The board have managed to ensure the club survived COVID while remaining in the background.

Since the board was appointed we have heard virtually nothing from them and that, compared to the previous decade, seems a rather good thing.

Revenue-wise the club has seen an exceptional boost in its bottom line and appears to be in a strong financial position at the moment.

  • The club’s a bit boring these days.  I miss the good old days under the old leadership. Not enough characters about the place. Especially that cheeky little fella that used to raid the till at the merchandise store. And the quality big name signings, Watmough, Foran, Hopoate ... Lee Mossop. The kitchen might even have to start buying their own wooden spoons soon. The place is a rabble!

  • Nah, I'll be voting for Denis Fitzgerald and Roy Spagnolo to be back on the board hahahaha. Also be voting to fire Phil Sim so he can come back and revive this website.
