Leagues Club AGM Voting Closes This Week

Fresh on the heels of a failed bid by former club directors, the 2025 AGM for the Parramatta Leagues Club is fast approaching.

This AGM sees Phil Sim and Mark Jenkins standing for re-election to 2 board seats. I think we all know the passion that Phil has for the club. Mark Jenkins is one of the key drivers of the new Parramatta Live project due to his focus on regulatory oversight.

There are also 5 special resolutions being put forward, summarised below:

- Peter Wynn be appointed Club Patron: This is a formal recognition of Peter's commitment to the club and his work in the local business community. This doesn't give him any influence in the running of the club.

- Updating the Constitution: This special resolution removes outdated clauses relating to the first board as all current directors have been elected by members. It also removes the 5km rule as abolised by the NSW Government.

- Unfit or improper directors: This resolution would prevent individuals deemed unfit or improper by relevant authorities from serving as directors.

- Special General Meeting increase: This resolution raises the number of members required to call a Special General Meeting to 5% of voting members.

- Legal disclosure of member information: This information will allow the Club to notify members if they are legally required to disclose the members' register to another member such as who as requested the information and why.

Voting can be done online and is open to all financial members who have 3 years of continuous membership to the Leagues Club.

Online voting closes 5pm Friday 21 February 2025

  • Some extremely sensible resolutions in there.

I hope voting members take the time to understand them and vote in the clubs best interest. It would be great to see them pass and strengthen our club even further.

    • Agreed. It tightens up a few obvious loopholes.

    • Improper?

      • The current constitution still allows him to stand for election. If the special resolutions are passed, then he'll be ruled out from standing in the future.

        • Fair enough Super, lets hope he doesn't sneak back in....it would be the classic shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

  • If you vote for Jenkins you need a rocket up your arse, he's so far up himself, that's coming from people who worked with him in the NSW Police.

      • Spot on Fong. This isn't a "guy I'd like to have a beer with" competition, it's a "proficiency at running a successful League's Club" vote, and given the club is showing all the right signs this should be a simple vote to keep the current folks in place.
