I played in marching bands for years and have heard The Last Post played many times. It's a prick of a thing to play on the bugle. That instrument contains no valves and tone and tune is generated solely through different pressure through the cheeks (kind of like whistling).
I remarked to my wife during the ceremony that I thought the officer playing the bugle was crying and, if so, good on him. Thankfully, I've never been anywhere near a theatre of war - and I never want to. But I'll support our men and women who have every day of the week!
"Thanks for going through the effort putting this together, I to was there and already forgotten half of this.... probably too busy focusing on the party pies and spring rolls. One thing I did take away from this was that all 4 were on the same page…"
"I was just taking the piss mate. We have half the bible on our side, even got a Mohamed coming through
Great blog, totally readable, evocative and with a good vibe. Thanks"

They are true heroes!
Super, for the last time get rid of this prick. Disrespecting our diggers is just not on
I have a friend who is a trumpeter, he reckons it's an arse to play it on the bugle but it's the only right way to play it
Well said mate
Agree Brissy. That was one of the most emotional last post I've seen. The fact that it wasn't perfect made it even more moving.
BE, the imperfections in the performance is what made it perfect
It was great, but I don't think it should be played before every Origin game, that would cheapen it I think.
Agreed, but PVL has already confirmed that Origin will be returned to mid season next year.
It should be played before any sporting event played on ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day.
