Last night was more than a loss

For us fans It's easy to say look at the conditions it was an iff night.

Last night represented more than that we needed to beat the Bunnies to show we are in fact a better team than last year.

Let's face it the Bunnies are a team we can't beat they know our weakness and exploit it ruthlessly we can't defend against teams that are prepared to throw shape at us early. We can beat the Panthers and Storm because they play the same collision style game. The Bunnies are prepared to spread it on us and we can't stop it and once we start to fail defensively the rot sets in and we play as 17 individuals and not a team Every time!!!!

I wasn't expecting to win last night I was never expecting to beat South's. not only that I'd need to check the stat's but I believe our record after a week off is pretty poor. Look at our loss to the Dogs flat after a week off exposed by a team playing Shapes from deep.

These issues are ongoing for years now we all know what needs to happen to fix it but we all know nothing will happen

  • Great blog mate.  The south's scenario was so obvious I had the same feeling all week . We simply can not adjust to certain teams and once the first strike happens it is muscle memory and we do what we have done the previous 5/6 matches against the Bunnies .

Reality is that South's have been playing very average of late and we made them look like a top 4 side again. There is something terribly wrong with the side that can not play to a acceptable nrl standard two weeks in a row.  The paying public and members deserve answers .

    • The problem is it just keeps happening and we need to fix it or be left behind

  • We didn't throw anything at Souths. We put the attacking cue away and expected Souths to do the same but they didn't. That and a few dumb errors in the wet and we were never really in it. I was wondering pre match who the conditions were going to favour and the answer was pretty obvious in the end. Dylan Brown wasn't in the game and didn't show up for a bloke who's been very good.  Mahoney I'm increasingly content with leaving.

      • I think the clear instructions from Arthur were to play no frills footy early. Souths on the other hand came with an intention to play up beat footy almost ignoring the weather and try to get an early lead which is almost impossible to peg back in the wet. We defended really well in the first half actually and I reckon if we went to the sheds only down by one try we may have gone on to grind out a win. But the tip on play by Moses that was intercepted ended any chance for us.

  • Winning the premiership is every game, every tackle, every pass. Its turning up every week, not when it suits. Its certainly not hoping we make the top 4/8 and deciding to turn it on. Last nite was indicative of who we are as a team and club. Not good enough by half

  • They have been throwing the same shape out to Johstons wing for years and scoring at will and the same last night can't believe they didn't know it wasn't coming and tried to do something about it . Souths just pencil us in for easy wins each year we are bunnies to them

    • Yeah that was beyond disappointing. Even in the wet we couldn't handle that left edge attack

      • Coryn, you're  someone with a bit of footy knowledge on here. Why don't we handle that left edge attack? Is it just lack of line speed? Is it also that we do play that up and in defence? Most sides adopt that model

        • It's our structure we jam in but if we don't stop it early it becomes 2 on 1.

1 thing I've noticed is Junior leads the line speed when he goes off our middles tend to wait for contact but no one is getting up to spoil the momentum at his Peak Nathan Brown was good for that aswell.

  • You know it, I know it, the ball boy knows it, Souths will attack us the same way every time, so why doesn't the coaching staff know it?
