Lane 2020 v Carige 1998

Who played the worse final ?

I don't know if it's recentcy bias but I'm going to have to go Lane .  Carige was horrible for 15 mins but Lane was terrible for about 75.

Dropped the ball 2nd play of the game , dropped it again when we had the chance to get it back , broke slowly from the scrum on Souths first try , got run through by the smallest player on the field for a crucial Souths try , couldn't get in anyones way when caught in no mans land on another Souths try , didn't wrap the ball up in tackles all night , threw offloads on the ground. Fair case for old lanky Shaun here .

He should've made way for Davey given how his game was going but BA saw fit to leave him out there for the 80. Go figure .

  • Carriage was actually very good for the first 70 minutes of that game. Ever since Shaun Lane signed his contract extension he has not played well. His game last night was horrible but reflects his recent form. There is no way he can start in front of Niukore next year

    • Niukore sucks on the edge. No ball playing skills. He is a middle or nothing IMO.

  • What are you trying to achieve from this blog? It is pointless. I watched the same game you did. Can't say I thought Lane was to blame. Didn't have a great game but apart from Gutho and Junior no one did. Singling out people is weak. You cop it as a team.

    • conversation. generally what you do here.

    • Eels Age Me his soft miss on Adam Reynolds to gift Souths a try turned the game. He was in position to make the tackle on the smallest guy on the field and he got brushed off by him. As a club we need to weed out guys who cant perform in the big moments and on last nights performance Lane is one of those

    • We've been hurting for over 30 years EelsAgeMe. Let us have our moments to criticise, just as you are criticising here.

Moses has never lifted in major game when we've needed him to, Lane was enept, Mahoney did not run the ball once in the entire game, the ref should've sent cook off for 10, BA's half time speeches are not working and he drinks to much fu#king water, Sivo has been soft etc....

    • Because it's the end of the season time to be bitter and analyze players Lane went down in form as the year went on but unfortunately the later the season went the harder it was to drop him I think he is better suited to the bench as a point of difference player

    • Lane was actually one of our best against the Storm but he was pretty bad against Souths I do have to admit. However, he still has value and I would keep him around.

    • Singling out people is pretty much what fans do. Isn't that the whole purpose of the forum. Discuss random shit. Makes us devistated fans feel a little better.

  • We have to learn that individual brilliance by a few players week in week out is not a winning formula.

BTW, Carige single handedly lost us that semi. I've never heard Sterlo get pissed during commentary till that game.

I've got plenty to say about MON, but in the interest of club unity and the need to be positive from now on, i'll suck it up, and say nothing. "
