Kurt Gidley is not in my top 5 fullbacks in NSW.

Obviously Hayne is much better than Gidley but there are many more fullbacks better than him as well. e g. Coote, Duggan, B Stewart, Pattern, Mini, Preston Campbell Etc etc.

The NSW selectors are a joke I wouldn't even have gidley in the team let aloe captain.

dont mistake lack of form (he has been recovering from injury) for lack of ability. Personally i reckon he is a more complete player than any of those listed above. Patten, stewart & Minichello cant kick, Preston cant tackle, Duggan and Coote have the luxury of not having to carry a team.

Parra Matt, I think you are a genius! As is every other media commentator that omitted Kurt from their origin side.

For Idris to get a run 4-5 players will have to settle in new positions, on the run, can;'t think that this is anything but a benefit to the toads.

What part of Hayne's game from the Manly game on Monday is he able to replicate from the wing, a hit up working off the line perhaps??

Harder to miss the team then it is to get into it for some....

i dont think Gidley is necessarily a bad player, however......... him being the nsw fullback takes Jarryd out of the game too much which overall aint good for the team.

he is a very good number 14 i beleive, but that is all.

I agree.To me Gidley is a great player but not at origin level.Just like Robbie Farah.

I think Gidley is an excellent bench option for NSW. His ability to play several positions would ensure he ranks above the players listed above..

Gidley would not be in my run-on side.. Perhaps NSW is relying on a shuffle if Kimmorly plays badly - i.e. move Gidley to 7, Hayne to 1, Tahu (or replacement) to wing and Idris into the centres..

  Yeh I agree. You can't go past him as a bench option but no way in a million years and then a few more would he rate above Hayne as a fullback.

Want to hear something funnier than Gidley at fullback, Brett Finch and Trent Barrett have been included in the squad. Now I don't have any problem with Trent Barrett, he was in the Origin 3 side that won last year but Brett Finch??? If Jamie Soward, Greg Bird and Terry Campese can't even get a look in how can Brett Finch be even considered.

Gidley is better than the players you mention but still doesn't change the fact he should be on the bench at best
