Is it just me of has international RL lost a lot of its charm and passion?

As a kid and teen id get so excited about international RL, it felt like it meant something to them back then, internationals were a war with biffo, shoulder charges, passion, but these days it seems like the intensity has dropped and the players arnt as enthusiastic and passionate as they used to be.

I used to be pumped about international RL now its a let down when we have an NRL free weekend, the magics gone from international RL.

International rugby union absolutely murders international league for passion, commitment, intensity, it leaves RL for dead on the big stage. Even though my hearts with league i have to admit that and anybody who watches a lot of both will know where im coming from.

RL world cup was an embarrassment compared to the union world cup these days.

Maybe im just getting older?

I find myself going for the Kiwis these days hoping to see an upset, international RL is dog shit compared to what it once was im sorry to say.

International RL doesnt get better than below

  • The media and nrl don't hype it like they do the origin. With the kiwis getting stronger and the islander games always exciting I don't know why it not promoted and hyped more. I quite like it but hard get excited when no lead up like origin.

The media and clubs don't get behind it and despite internationals on there still multiple stories and talk about origin and which players will play test but miss origin.

I also haven't seen much advertisements either yet leading up to origin you can't go an hour or 2 without commercial advertising it. If TV channels want get viewers they should promote game yet seem more interested in hyping master chef, the block or all the relationship reality shows on now. The nrl should pay for advertising well. Can advertise on all channels if advertise the test as tickets still available instead of the coverage.
    • I agree with those sentiments, its promoted poorly but that doest change the fact that the passion and desperation that international RL used to be about has faded, its still in origin but international league is like watching a poor game of NRL imo.

Im old enough to remember what it was like in the 80s and in comparison its a shadow of its former self.

      The magics gone.

    • Why they need to give Fox all NRL/RL TV rights.
  • I'll fess up - only watching foz lol
    • Carlo are you watching the womans test match straight after this?

      • Nup don't give a shit snake . But good luck to them lol
        • lol, youre meant to be supporting the chicks!!

          • Not after 8pm . Every chick is on her own , even Hillary
  • It's the fact players can play for any nation, at any time. Makes no sense. They must clean up the eligibility rules and force Aus and NZ to not poach players from those small Islands.
  • Snake you've changed your avatar from disgusting to passable and now back to disgraceful! Mate, you need some help. As far as the Anzac Test goes the problem is that these tests are becoming 'boring, predictable and just plain a waste of time' I'd rather watch a good movie and read a good book.
