  • I'm wondering what do people think of the following:

    Hopgood to prop

    Matterson at 13 fulltime

Gutherson to centres fulltime for Talagi at Fullback.

I think all those 3 moves are needed for next year.

Then in 2026 Gutho and Matto leave for Lomax moving to centre and either a new prop and Hopgood back to 13 or a new 13/promotion form youth.

    • Guymer has to start i think, the energy he provides is better suited to starting. Hopgood as a straight running Prop not sure if it would work.

      • I think from the current roster Guymer, Ofa and Hopgood need to play prop as they have a different energy to all our other forwards Maybe one more youngster like Pryke can make it but we dunno for now.

I'm also curious about how Doorey would do in the middle for a stint. He has the body.

      • LB I would prefer to see Guymer starting on an edge with say Carwright. Lane just has to go and Cartwright needs to pull his finger out....Doorey is threatening his spot.....sadly we need Cartwright to return to his early season form as we badly need the shape he can create in the pack if he ever gets fair dinkum again. He is shitting in his own nest at present.

        • I agree Poppa. At the start of the season Carty was belting blokes. You have to feel the rib injury has impacted this. The issue for Carty is that if he is not providing that X-factor in attack that he is not a good backrower because his defence and carry's are not that strong.

          • Do you also think he has been hit hard by the BA sacking? BA was a big reason to his resurgence and gave him confidence. Now he looks frustrated, when he gets frustrated he makes errors, a lot of them.

I think 2025, we need a new back-rower, as to why i say Dylan Lucas a place holder as an example of who we should chase. But getting a younger back-rower, put Guymer on the other side then having Carty on the bench is more balanced for our team.

            • Yep agree with this

        • He could definately be a starter on an edge for us. He is not your traditional edge but he is more in the mold of a Hindmarsh type, not saying he will be Hindmarsh, but he is not a whole running player just a worker which we need on an edge.

          • I like how direct he is and our edges tend not to do that.

With regard to BA's sacking effecting Cartwright, he should be more determined than ever because if he has lost a sponsor, there is only one way to react.....i.e. get another one!

    • Guymer to prop next year, hopgood to stay at lock.

"Talagi is still a work in progress. I thought he'd spend more time in Reggies. He may still but I never said he was awful, just needed time. I was also under the impression we had our 6 locked up long term so no big deal if he left. I reckon we will…"
