For a while now I have observed nothing but criticism of this man.
He has been blamed for all our defensive issues..... personally I know nothing about him as an assistant coach.
I saw him play with us for a portion of his career, he a was an honest no questions asked toiler. Played for NZ and also coached them when he was on a hiding to nothing and he duly has been criticised as a nobody. He was a pretty tough guy and I can't imagine him being a yes man or a walkover for anybody! he did play Test Football!
But like his head coach he has never been accepted that well at Parra....almost a whipping boy and this site in particular has vicariously asked for his sacking and blamed him for every defensive error that happens......BUT .... I always like to stick up for the underdog and think that maybe there is something we are missing?
I started this conversation after seeing our new prop from NZ via the Cowboys W..... Greig a big boy of some 124kgs. This bloke was selected out of the blue from the Cowboys second side to play for the Maori's versus indigenous side this year by the Maori coach Kidwell (gee someone must rate him). He made a short cameo and impressed a lot of judges in the time he was on the field.
Go back a week and Parra have signed him...Greig.....go back a day and I'm watching him play in our NSW Cup side and he looks pretty impressive.....hmmmm.
Start thinking again after watching someone who is our buy of the season Papallii.....this kid would start for NZ tomorrow if they pick a NZ Test Side.......How did we find him,why did he come to Parra?
Then I go back and see a kid called Roache play for us in NSW Cup..... shit he looks good!!!.... He comes from NZ also....hmmm
I wonder how did we get Papallii..... the link occurs to me, where's our NZ connection.....Hmmm?
When and where did we find D Brown.....hmmmm?
I honestly don't know can anyone dot the I's and cross the t's.

We got Dylan Brown before Kidwell was here.
Our defence is looking good and a lot of that has to do with our current Centres. Opacic is a very good defender and likewise Marata is a huge step up defensively from what Waqa Blake used to bring. I honestly don't know what BA does when Blake is healthy. Niukore is by far the better Centre at this stage.
Yep, but he is an even better edge forward. What a predicament!

'I can't remember a bad game he has ever had, always plays well but unfortunately has always been the One to drop to the bench
100% agree. I am seldom very critical of players. I was defending Sivo seemingly non stop when he had a bit of second year syndrome last year. But I've been very critical of Waqa Blake as a signing. He has a lot of good athletic attributes but it's pretty obvious why the panthers let him go.

Nobody has answered the question so far.....have we done Kidwell an injustice?
Probably. I'm not sure we can pay credit to him for all the NZ players we have. I don't know that. However as our defensive Coach he's doing a great job.
