Key Eels Players Look Lost ! Need solution

Overall the defence last night was excellent. We had no ball and a terrible kicking game and yet they only scored twice. BUT remember it is the Dragons who have zero attack. If we give that much ball to Thurston, Kimmorley, Cronk etc they would smassh us.

IMO Inu has lost all confidence. He looks timid and does not attack the ball. Fair enough he is not quick but when he leaps for the ball he is not leaping with his chest he is finger grabbing and keeping his body away from the contest. This is a confidence thing rather than anything else.

MoiMoi looked at half speed as if he is no longer the forward leader. FuiFui is famous for telling Langmack at Souths you play me for 10 minutes I train for 10 minutes. Same could end up applying here. Big Fui you are our leader. In starting side and get on with it.

Mortimer and Robson are solid second phase playmakers but lack the ability to lead the team around the paddock. Their roles need clarification Kris Keating again IMO is at the cross roads. Has potential but is he an ad lib dummy half runner or a quality 7 with an a grade kicking game ? I think the former. Mateo is lost in the Robson/Keating/Mortimer tussle and is playing as a workhorse 13 not the ball player he can be. As a workhorse he is average as a ball player one of the best in the comp.

Angry pills Tahu needs to calm down and remember we need him to attack not smash Jamie Soward all season My one concern !!! Jono Wright. Quality center who needs an opportunity and not be relegated based on the fact he is the youngest.

Finally for Cayless ! Relax Nathan you have nothing to prove. Think the bear in 81. Move to a bench spot make your tackles and hand on to the ball.

  • Cayless was the best forward last night. He ran hard, made metres and tackled the house down. One mistake and it didn't cost us. Talk about flogging a dead horse.

Mateo was good last night, 13 is his spot.

The halves you got fairly right though. Along with our 9 there were very poor options taken.

I noticed you never mentioned Hayne, positionally he was bad at times.
  • I think you are overdramatising a little. Why u would want Tahu and Cayless to relax is beyond me. Kicking needs to improve greatly, everything else is at rd 6 standard and our D was semi final standard.
  • Ever heard of round 1 cobwebs?? So you found nothing positive last nite...
  • What does the opening statement say to you: "our defence was excellent " that sounds like a small positive to me

we have no long kicking game

I would like to see Jono Wright get a game

I think Inu has the yips
  • Mateo is a 13 not a 6 but he needs to get involved with the ball playing and I think with robson and Mortimer in the way he is not sure when he has control. They need to get his head right so they know when Mateo has control
  • Tahu was so busy trying to get physical he did not make an impact in attack
  • My reference to the Bear in 81 was that his role helped us win a comp. Not flogging Cayless. My issue is how to get the most out of FuiFui who needs to feel like he is the leader. His passion was a driver for us making the GF.

Cayless can step back to 15 and still play the same minutes and let Fui and Poore take the first 20 minutes
  • We had little ball and when we did have the ball we looked very dangerous we just need to not give away silly penalties and loss balls and we are gonna fire cant wait for next week.
  • dude. its round 1. give em a break. its the best round 1 start we had in years. defence is important early in the year. and we got it .attack will come... we are too good not to make it happen. we will hit our straps by round 7 or 8 instead of round 20 like lastyear. we shoud win 4 or 5 of our first 8 rounds, then we got a bye. when we came out of that we will explode.

We usually do after a bye.

calm down. lets talk about how tahu is back...love him.
  • Inu leapt as high as Folau but he rushed everything and was too excited. Look at the smiling from the smiling assassin. He needs to wait and let the ball get to his chest not his fingers and he'll be a crazy weapon.
