Kenny's fist

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing. In last weeks game on the final play off a kick, Kenny Edwards leaps high and fisted the ball over the dead-ball line...AFL style.

When I saw the last kick go up today I was thinking "I hope Semi makes a play at the ball or fists (bats) it over the sideline" With zero seconds left on the clock, no time left for a scrum off a knock-on, I don't know why we didn't contest the kick.

Just say'n...

  • Very good point and comparison. Even giving away a penalty and tackling midair would have been a better result in hindsight. Line would have reset.
    • We were up 2, a penalty is a gift 2 pts and golden point

    • We were too. Cancel that comment.
    • You're allowed to tackle offensive player in the air. It's not a penalty.
  • Agreed
  • I think the kick got everyone because it was pretty flat in trajectory, if it doesn't land exactly where it did, we win. Good kick and a bit of luck to land it right between our players

  • It's exactly what I said at the time. And I've said it for a very long time. To me, whenever you're faced with a dicey air ball, just punch the thing out over the deadball line (or in this case the sideline). It's what soccer goalkeepers are taught to do, whenever they're in doubt and so many tries come from kicks, just play it safe.

  • Being the last play, Semi could have even punched it forward or over the sidline.
Also when Guth knocked the ball forward & gave Penrith 6 again, he could have dived on the ball & forced a scrum with the clock running down - game over .
    • You know it's a tough loss when the 'what ifs' are easily found. My 'what if' is if Norman passed instead of kicked when we busted down the left side at 18-12. Could have been 24-12 with the floodgates opened.
  • Semi didn't get a play on it. The Penrith player actually caught it behind him. The Eels just wasn't numbered up.

"I'm going on limb, I reckon they'll trade in coates. He isn't expected to be back for 8 weeks. And it'd be huge for storms to have Warbrick, Lomax, Ramien and Howarth all lined up. I also don't think r360 will go head due to Iran. That's my thought."

"I think a lot of us should get ready to be disappointed. Blore won't improve us. Warbrick has concussion issues and is error prone. Cant see Storm releasing a player that will actually improve. I am not getting my hopes up that this will turn out…"
