Ken Thornett passes away

Just heard on Ray Hadley at 9am that the MAYOR of Parramatta Ken Thornett passed away age 78.A lot of our fans probably never saw Ken play. He was my first idol as a Parra fan. He wasn,t as dynamic in attack as Jarryd Hayne but definitely as safe as a bank in defence and fans always knew that he would bring the attacker down in the last line of defence.In the 60s we had absolutely no attack except when he chimed into the backline.Thank you for a lot of happy memories Ken.R.I.P.

    Saw him play a few times when a young kid. Actually remember his brother, Dick, better for some reason. The Thornetts were a very talented sporting family, I think all represented Aust at water polo as well as Ken & Dick playing for Aust in RL while their brother represented Aust in union.

    RIP Ken, you were a hero to Parra supporters when times were tough.

    He never dropped a high ball. Safe as a bank in defence. Old timers still contend that he was the greatest. Think Hayne without the ego.
