Kelly can't kick goals for shit

Can someone explain why BA continues to persist with Luke Kelly as our goal kicker. He couldn't kick goals to save his life absolutely shit. My 10 year old nephew can kick better. Surely Norman or Robinson can handle the kicking duties. Also BA needs to Kelly to tackle in the ribs not the throat. He continues to give away dumb ass penalties for high shots.

  • Ed we all agree that Kelly is not the answer, but he is all we have (yeah, sad)

In Darwin we started with Norman kicking dropouts, moved to Reece and ended with Kelly and Kelly was actually hitting them better than the others. I do wonder if Normans leg was causing concern and thats why it went to Reece.

Anyway, we have used Reece and even though he started out OK, its been a while since hes even looked like kicking a goal.

What I want to know is how much kicking practice are they doing. Practice makes perfect, so the say.

  • Do we have to use Kelly? Why not play Peats at half, De Gois at hooker and Norman at 5/8. Then have Pauli, Lussick, Peni and Alvaro on the bench. I know there is salary cap constraints but nowhere I have seen does it say we have to play Kelly.

    • We don't have to play Kelly. But, moving Peats into the halves definitely weakens the 9 position (Peats is much better that DeGois). So you're hoping that Peats playing out of position in the halves provides enough of a boost to cancel out the negative of him not playing hooker. Definitely weaken one position to possibly strengthen another. Not exactly a foolproof plan.
  • the reason why is because we have no one else whom is compotent at kicking goals, this club has failed fans time and time again and having a recognised goal kicker in the NRL is paramount, our option is Kelly so that is your answer!
  • Kelly kicked goals this week because Robinson has been terrible. But Kelly is no improvement. I think we will have to put up with the mediocre goal kicking until flash arrives next year. They should spend the off season training someone to be a suitable backup though as this is so important and kelly and robinson will likely not be in our first team next year.
  • De Gois and Peats are able to interchange. My personal opinion and it is only an opinion, is that Kelly is so bad, that it would be worth weakening hooker to strengthen the half. De Gois is a better option at hooker, than Kelly is at half.

  • Tim Mannahs kicking game was off last night, oh wait, its not his area of expertise. Hey did,, have you ever thought to yourself that Kelly is not actually a kicker and he is just a makeshift kicker. For all the shit he gets put on him, he actually did alright against the Riff.
  • Where was Drop Bear Poppa i didnt see him here, blogs are easily missed mate.
