Kelepi

Just wanted opinions of anyone in the know. Kelepi has had a massive fall from grace, and doesn't look likely to crack a spot in first grade anytime soon. Does anyone know the reasons? Is he out of shape, out of form, discipline problems, or just not good enough to crack the squad? He came onto the scene with a bang, and has disappeared with barely a whisper. Any insight would be appreciated.

  • I've also been curious about this!

  • TD thought he was a kelpie and decided to sign him and bring him into the kennel

  • It could have something to do with how well our forward pack has performed over the past few weeks.

  • From reading the NYC blogs here, he's been killing it there. He dropped from first grade due to form and fitness issues. Just hasn't been able to crack back into the NRL due to the form of Ma'u and Edwards. We may see him back with the injury to Ma'u.

  • Kelepi belongs in first grade. He is killing it in U/20s. BA is stunting his development by leaving him there. He should be playing with the men in 1sts. Either that or we cut him loose, its the only fair thing for the kid.

It would be a monumental fuck up to let him walk now but it would be the best thing for him. He is being wasted.

I think he is the best junior we have and I know many won`t agree but from what I've seen of him he definitely is.

    • Seeing as he's been playing a completely new position that he had to learn I'd say that his time spent in the NYC this year has been well spent and his weeks spent in NYC have meant that he's actually developed as a player. He was also promoted to the NSW cup for last week's game. In this time I believe he also spent 2 or so weeks out with injury.

    • I think BA may know what he is doing with him. I haven't seen him make too many bad calls yet.
    • I agree, if we don't play Kelepi some team will throw cash at him. And if we do lose him it would be a huge fuckup by the BA and the club
  • He's caught between being a backrower and a Prop.

Does he have the size dominate tackles and push through the line at prop? ?

Does he have the skill set, lateral movement and pace of a backrower??
    • He's got a very muscular body and he's very fast, that is what will get him to dominate in attack. His style would be very similar to that of Fui Fui Moi Moi.

"Samrani reminds me of Kane Linnett for NQ back in the day. Not a massive player in attack but defensively was sound. He won't be playing Origin or anything I doubt, but can he be a very steady 10 year NRL player at Centre? Most definitely.

"There's a rumour going around on the Kennel that Xeri and Crichton have had a 'falling out' of some sort and that is why he wants to leave."

"It's quite disappointing how Penisini has panned out.
He should of been a world class centre by now, and I honestly thought he would of been when he 1st came onto the scene.
I do hope Ryles can get him there but not sure if a change of club is what…"
