Keep the faith in Brad Arthur

I say this because of the recruitment we have done for next hear, we have Foran on the way, Scott and alot more players off contract so more than likely more to come, He has lost the Hayne Plane this year, and if you actually look at the team lists from rounds 1 to 9 we havent had the same spine twice because of injury. In my opinion the revolving door of coaches needs to stop, and hopefully that stopped at the end of 2013.Wait till big Paulo is back, Semi is fully fit again ( wasnt 100% yesterday and it showed ), yes some of his selections are questionable lime Seffa, and I believe there is no need for De Gois, Peats is an 80 min player, Lussick and Pauli have both been tapped on the shoulder so I dont see them coming back unless there is injury

  • Over the next two years we have to try and keep stability at all levels now. As a club we have to stop the reactive crap and start building towards something. Brad Arthur has not yet had the opportunity to go into a season with a spine of his making and you can't judge his performances until that happen.

I have to point out the similarities with my EPL team Tottenham, which just may be the only football team in the world with a revolving door that turns more for Parramatta. Our new manager has had a mixed year that is currently ending poorly, but he came into the club and had to take on the current roster and about half were not suited to his style of game. He needs the opportunity to prove himself with his players.

BA came into a situation where both his halves were locked in long-term contracts. He has managed to lock down one of his halves and now he has to come up with an answer on the other front. In the forwards he's had more of an opportunity to bring in his players and that's where our strengths are right now.

Next year, BA has to be wholly accountable for the results as he will have had every opportunity to build his own team. At the moment, he's having to make do with a spine he had little say in, and we still have to recognise that Hayne's departure put a massive whole in this season.

As supporters, we can demand more of our team. And BA is responsible for delivering that. Whatever happens we have to get off this sacking coach merry-go-round because starting again every two years is a recipe for sustainable failure.

    • I am still excited about next year, this year was never going to be easy once our best player left, Brad is still the man for the job
    • Exactly, 1EE. I feel as though the team was stuffed for this year, once we lost Hayne late in the picture. Seemed as though all the good off contract players were already taken.

    • Agreed Phil. Any talk of BA being shown the door is rubbish.
As for the forwards, I believe that they are under performing in most games. Against Manly and Souths they were relentlessly aggressive in both attack and defence. Something has gone missing in other games and you'd have to concede that it must be a mental aspect.
We need to dominate the ruck. It's a shame that one of our most damaging runners has perhaps the worst hands in the NRL. If others ran with Terepos determination we would be much better off.
    • I don't think too many of us are calling for BA to be moved on Phil.

However many of us are now questioning his ability as a coach.

You speak of BA not having a spine of his making and therefore should be forgiven for being UNABLE to work with the players he has.

That is not the sign of a decent coach.

CRIKEY - even Kearney and Stuart did better than that with lesser talented players.

A real FG coach will work with what he has got and design his game plan around the players he has at his disposal.

If a coach is so set in HIS way then failure is guaranteed - refer SK.

What you have effectively communicated here, is that BA does not have the ability to get the best out of what he has got because he is inextricably entrenched in HIS own ideas and will NOT (can NOT) adapt them to suit the situation he is in.

I mentioned ages ago that I believe BA needs a mentor - that DA should be in a more hands on role (directly with BA and not the team) to help him through.

Foran and Scott are the only new purchases of note so far - do you honestly believe just TWO players is all that it will take to turn the team's fortunes around next year?

The exciting rumour of "that" other back/FB has gone deathly silent now - hasn't it?

BA brought in Crooks who doesn't look like seeing FG at the Eels but played dammed well in SL - BA brought in Quinlan who also doesn't look like seeing FG, another player with big wraps on him.

    • Agree but some of BAs selections still need to be questioned, some fair questions are being asked on that front and imo theres some negative energy on the park atm, im not sure if its because of a few guys being uncertain on their futures but something is going on.

    • I agree with Col. The point is not to sack BA but to admit BA is making bad choices.
  • Pauli pauli has been a super sub in the past. I wonder what he did wrong.
De Gois needs to go back to Wenty.
  •  I hate to say it but when Paulo comes back brad will play him in wenty team  and have seffa and  DeGois still and Richie there .

Me I have Pauli,,Moeroa,,,lussick,,,wicks on the bench and have the drop sandow have Norman half and Matterson five eight

    • Matterson can't even get a game for Wenty mate....
