It is understood that a contract offered to Keating in the past seven days was well below what his management was expecting and what the Eels had previously indicated would be on the table. The Bulldogs are believed to have offered Keating a similar deal as what lured Hodkinson - that contract was reported to be worth $800k over three years.
The Bulldogs showed early interest in Keating, however, the junior Eel was keen to stay with the Parramatta club and until the last week it always looked likely that would be the case.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Phil? Is this for real?!
I am absolutely devastated.
looks like oakey dokey is next on the hit list lol
please dnt make up a name for hayne or mannah :) im not havin a dig just trying to lighten the mood. Its just kk dnt worry bout it.
u didnt have a slogan for kingston did you by any chance???
but i mean, this almost confirms cronk yeah (being overly optimistic)
Not the worst decision to let him go given we have Humble and Morts.... Would have preferred KK over Morts, however this at least gives us a chance to make a play at some 7's at some point.
or is humble the guy that DA thinks is gonna take over?
il be honest i was more upset when i found out mateo was leaving. Inu and KK were not huge losses in my opinion.
Ozzy and DA know something is around the corner. If they believed KK was the 6 they needed he would have already been signed earlier this year.
I dnt believe his combination with Morts has worked. I think Morts will take over as main playmaker now. I think that is what the coach wants to. He has always had more faith in morts than kk.
Like i said earlier KK is a good player but just maybe cnt fit into this team with the likes of Hayne so good and dominant in attack.
Im also a big Anthony Mitchell fan and this may allow us to hold onto him.
Well be right.
We made a GF without him. Interesting to c how the rest of the season pans out. Time for morts to step up.
Mateo = big deal, potential game winner
KK = big deal/ potential future superstar
*sigh* here we go again
I don't care what anyone says, he is an extremely talented player and I am so proud that he came through the ranks at Parramatta.
I truly am sorry to see him go and wish him all the very best in his future career. Even though it will make me sick to see him in a Bulldogs jersey.
