From the official site:
Pirtek Parramatta Eels coach Steve Kearney said there's plenty to build on from tonight's trial loss to the Panthers.
The Eels have gone down in successive weeks in both of their trial matches but Kearney was confident the team's performance would improve come March 2 when his side takes on the Broncos at Parramatta Stadium.
"It was a bit frustrating as there was a lot of dropped ball in the first half...
we didn't sort of build any real pressure," Kearney said.
"In the second half when we did sustain a bit of pressure we came up with a try.
"We've got a fair bit of improvement in us before Round 1, that's for sure."
Tonight's trial saw Tim Mannah and Jarryd Hayne both sustain injuries but Kearney wouldn't be drawn on who had edged themselves ahead for a spot in the Round 1 team.
"Obviously we've got a couple of guys with a few bumps and bruises tonight so we'll just have to see how things pan out over the next week from an injury perspective - it wasn't a good night for us in that sense."
"So we've got some tough decision to make heading into Round 1."

Hopefully SK will select players that can actually hang on to the ball. Esi Tonga already seems like a dud and if SK hasn't got anyone better than Horo for a backrow spot, we've got huge problems. With Maitua injured (and not getting any younger), the backrow doesn't look like setting the world on fire. We don't have a classy Glen Stewart type player or a Tallis like enforcer. Defence in the backs still looks shaky and now JH is injured. I don't think this year is going to be one to get excited about. I hope I'm wrong.
i think the year will be a slow starting one for us, then about 1/3 to 2/3rds of the way we will have gelled together and playing really good footy heading into the finals.
if Esi was a bargining chip to get Willie and Willie has a big season i'm happy with that.
gone gone gone 2012 spooners no passing the ball sk has no idea but 1 of melb
It's better (if possible) to start the year better with as many wins as possible, so players carrying injuries can be rested in the later part of the year. I hope this year is better than 2011.
a) we will improve because the trials have not displayed the improvement evident at training
b) we have to improve otherwise Brisbane will flog us; ditto for subsequent teams
I read the blog from the trial. Were there ANY positives from the trial?!
Hopefully some good news and no injuries arise. Young loko is out for whole season but still have depth in our bacline
