YES!!!! get him!!! and SKD too
Not starting Mannah and JP would be a mistake. he would be better off the bench taking JP's spot.
I don't think we'd get him. Now with SBW and FPN gone the Roosters have a few spots opening up on the bench. Surely Evans would get one of those spots. Unless they believe that Willis Meehan has overtaken him?
*EDIT* I don't think we could carry any more middle forwards in our squad. We already have 11 forwards who can and have played in the middle.
Sorry I didn't count all of them, we have 18 forwards who have played in the middle. All of them except for possibly Shannon McPherson, Daniel Alvaro, Tui Kamicamica, and Joseph Ualesi are all in contention for a first grade spot (Richie Fa'aoso depending on clearance). So that leaves 14 players fighting out for 6 maybe 7 spots in the first grade team.
We have a good amount of edge forwards: Manu Ma'u, Kenny Edwards, Tepai Moeroa, Pauli Pauli who can fight out for 3 possibly 4 spots.
Plus Kane Evans only has 9 NRL games next to his name, so he isn't an experienced campaigner that could fix our problem of young forwards.
A) Kane Evans re-signed with the Roosters earlier this year until 2017.
B) Kane Evans is on record as saying he enjoys the Roosters club, organisation & wants to stay there.
C) A spot now opens up on the bench with SBW & FPN leaving.
D) We don't need any more forwards.
In no way, shape or form, would Evans walk into our first-grade side.
He doesn't have the experience or the runs on the board as a proven, impact player, to justify having him start over more experienced players that know what the world of the NRL is like.
As for his asking for a release, I find that hard to believe, tbh.
The only thing I have heard is that the Roosters have not released him.
If JWH signs elsewhere they'll be looking to sure up his deal.
Is he really 6 foot 7? Big Bloke.
