My heart just cannot go beating any longer. The sense of outrage and betrayal I feel is the greatest it has been at this joke of a club,I've followed for the last 40 years.Regardless of whether we are cheating the cap or not,big f*cking deal,I suspect we are not the only ones. Some twisted ,slimy ,little f*cker has pissed in every one's pockets by leaking out to the media.Just what is so precious about controlling this club that has people throwing each other under a bus to gain control. The ulterior motive of the whistle-blower/s is not a sense of moral outrage, but simple self-benefit

Is the money that great board members and officials make? Is Fong correct in his piss taking of Sharp's greed? Do we have an alien space craft or The Ark of the Covenant buried in the basement of the League's Club? Someone please explain to me,the root cause of the malice and perfidy that drives these people. What is the attraction that would lead to the bean spilling that has lead to this club being up sh*t creek not only without a paddle, but without a canoe.

Many other members say they will start watching AFL or soccer because of this debacle, but even if you put a gun to my head I still couldn't sink to that level. What's left? Netball? Curling? Lacrosse?

  • Tom this is completely off the top of my head, i could be wrong but i seem to remember it was 10k per board member and the chairman got 40k, then Steve put in a motion to double it, the members knocked it back but they found a loophole behind the scenes and gave themselves a pay rise anyway.

Does anybody know the exact amount they get now? have i overstated the chairmans salary does anybody know?

Id presume expenses are on top of that, like junkets to casinos overseas.

  • Don't take it on face value, it's all about the kickbacks i.e. I give you a contract to supply goods and or services to the leagues club, the value of the contract is above what the other businesses have put up for tender, but somehow I decide I'd rather sign a contract with you, then you give me a paperbag.
Disclaimer - I'm not saying this is what the board members at Parra have done.

Gollum: "We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses. Wicked, tricksy, false!
We ought to wring his filthy little neck. Kill him! Kill him! Kill them both! And then we take the precious... and we be the master!"
    • I think your last part is the key.

It's about the power. The power to give and take away.

The monitory rewards aren't there for these actions but for those who love power a national sporting club gives you something you can't get elsewhere. Fans, access to the players, the best views, controlling people, having others asking you for a glimpse of the inner sanctum.
  • True, but don't underestimate the money side.
    • As a $100 million a year business it's mans greatest 2 vices of money and power. The other vice is women but that tends to start wars.
In saying that we are about to embark on a $70 million development so maybe their is a grab for power to hand out those contracts to " friendly" parties :)
  • It's not the pay so much it's the power / strolling around on game day like you own the place etc

  • Add to that all the kickbacks they get and thinking their shit don't stink
  • Well said Poppa as the Eels have never strayed far from ex footy players thinking their 15 years on the field converts to business sense off it for some reason.
In saying that the club did accumulate a lot of real estate under Fitzy but that perhaps may be accolades to be given to Alan Overton.
Then 3P come in and dispose of this large portfolio just before this current boom occurring in Parra. How we didn't manoeuvre to be building some of these towers going up is beyond me. Spags and his band of monopoly salesman had the business acumen that the ATO salivates over...
  • These imbeciles should be paying supporters for stuffing up this great club
  • Cracking post Poppa. I agree 100%.
