Footy fans don't want to see less games being played in a standard , non semi final , season. The players do want to play less games in this same season format.
With the new teams joining the comp shortly there is the potential to play more games in the standard season and get rid of the byes. Teams play every week. Dont despair
I propose that no player be allowed to participate in any more than 18 standard season games. There are obvious roster issues and salary cap issues but this works for the players welfare. They got rid of Reserve Grade and that issue will bite them in the arse real bad with the introduction of the new teams.
The new clubs. There is a lot of travel involved obviously. My proposal is that the new team play all their away games on the east coast in the first half of the standard season then return home to play all their home games in the other half of the season. I know this proposal is not popular but there is significantly less disruption to the players family life.
The Rep games and Semi Final games are open slather for any registered player. You don't need to qualify by playing 18 games.
