SOMETIMES you need to laugh or you’ll cry.

Our guess is Batley fullback Shaun Ainscough will need a whole lot of laughter in his life to get over this one.

In the final minute of Batley’s game against Featherstone, Ainscough snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when he intended to kick the ball dead, but instead set up a beautiful long-range try for the Featherstone winger, who caught the perfect bounce from the most imperfect kick.

At the time, Batley were leading 26-22, but the try and subsequent conversion from the sideline brought it all unstuck.

Ainscough sank to the ground while Featherstone players leapt into each others arms, hardly believing their luck.

Surely next time Ainscough will just take the tackle.

"I'm putting last year down to the new style of attack and defence that had been implemented, as well as relying on Volkman at half. It was a disatorous 1st half without doubt, but I can't see that happening again. We should be much better prepared…"

Happened to port macquarie under 18s in the grand final a few years ago.hooter went and the kid kicked the ball in the air to celebrate and the other team caught it scored and won the game.
