Maika Sivo has undergone a second round of surgery for a mystery skin infection that almost cost him his hand.
In a revelation that left the Parramatta winger stunned, a surgeon told Sivo that he was ‘just days’’ away from having to have his entire hand removed because of the infection that has now been identified as cellulitis.
Having failed to seek treatment for the condition until concerned Eels officials ordered him to hospital, surgeons were almost forced to remove the middle finger on Sivo’s right hand to stop the spread of infection.
