Juniors

In my opinion, Arthur is a great coach. The best we ve had since Daniel Anderson. To be honest he is probably better than Anderson. One thing that ive noticed is that he rarely introduces rookies into the 17. In late 2014 he introduced us to Tepai and in mid 2016 French. Will he be introducing a rookie this year? Where are all the legendary parra juniours? Brisbane and Melbourne seem to add one or two juniours every year although many are welcomed during the origin period. Will a parra rookie be brought into first grade this year?

  • Juniors - shit spelling

  • Rookies lose games. That said, Arthur has given these blokes their NRL debuts:
    Faraimo, Ma'u, Moeroa, Pauli (2014)

    Alvaro, Folau (2015)

    French (2016)

The thing is though, that we were so shit in 2013 that most of our youngsters made their debuts that year:

Edwards, Paulo, Pewhairangi, Pritchard, Radradra, Tanginoa, Terepo, Toutai, Ualesi, Wiliame (2013)

So there was hardly anyone left in our squad who hadn't already made their debuts when Arthur arrived. But if we had a shit squad this year and weren't fighting for a finals spot you can guarantee blokes like Niukore, Stone and Aukafolau would have made their debuts.

    • Good analysis Pou. Only thing that I would add is that the juniors coming thru the current pathways seem to be of a higher quality than those prior to the BA era

    • Cap, consider something that many people who are still living were taught spelling based on the Oxford Dictionary, which is pretty much the standard one that came out from England. The Oz equivalent for want of a better description Australianised the Oxford dictionary but there are also other British dictionaries as well.

The thing that is happening in most of our educational institutions is rather than using those dictionaries they now use the American dictionaries in education.  It is by default put into all the Microsoft and other Word Processors and not all have the option to change to another one, at least MS Word now allows you to change to other dictionaries such as Australian/Macquarie.

This webb site/blog by default uses the U.S dictionary.

  • Arthur has never developed a junior from scratch and debut him. All those mentioned by Pau were here under former coaches.
    • In saying that, I wouldn't swap Arthur for any coach in the NRL.
If there's one slight criticism, I would have liked for him to debut someone like Twal in '17.

Hope a few of the current 20s crop come through. I think Stone will come into calculations very soon.
    • I really like BA as a coach and hope he is extended soon. However he has made mistakes as all coaches do. Twal has played well since going to the Tigers. Rightly or wrongly he did not have patients to wait in line at the Eels. Is that a BA bad, I don't know

I like the look of Stone not a real big man but aggressive good defender and runs great lines.

    • Chief who would you have dropped for a jr last year?
    • Kaysa, Beu Scott, Gower, Frank.

Twal could have been given a shot before Gower, who was a honest toiler, but isn't exactly getting any better with age
    • I was a little surprised that Gower was resigned. Having said that he is good and experienced backup
